Area beside Lodge entrance SE of Balneil has large stones on grass to deter parking. Used small roadside spot just NE of Balmakin entrance.duchally07/02/2024
From E, cycled around then wooded path up from west.Topographer5726/12/2023
No easy parking so drove along the private road from the E. Parked in a hedgerow gap/field entrance before reaching Den Burn & woodland. I justified this decision on the facts that the field was already stubble, no ploughing was underway, and the existence of an alternative larger entry point. A quick jog to the summit via the track above Den Burn to an old Mill, through this to a FB and narrow path leading through rhodies and nettles to the summit tower. The folly was built around 1820, and comprises a Gothic tower surrounded by mock ruins.summitter24/08/2023
As Minto.PGCE12/04/2023
Parked in Kilconquhar, walked to Colinsburgh along a very quiet road and approached the tower from the south.hillsman20/06/2022
The likes of this is nicer than a quick bag. Starting from Colinsburgh is a shorter version. https://www.2crail.com/kilconquhar-and-balcarres-tower-walk/Belfarm 28/05/2022
Wide parking at lodge 476056 approx. Past the pond, over the cattle grid then gate at 47774 04569 gives easy access to tower and high point. Then on to Anstruther for fish and chips.NormanW12/01/2022

Followed Minto's route, which is getting pretty overgrown - then down to the chapel and back via the pond to the N of the hill which has some nice planting around it.sclater23/08/2021
Minto's route up then continued, pleasantly, on path E and back along vehicle trackjimbloomer19/05/2021
As Martin said, pick of the day. A nice walk with a river crossing and Tower/chapel ruin. Some decent features.Dibs26/03/2021
The pick of the Tumps out to the east. 5th out of 7 for the day, from the East. The Fife Flyer26/03/2021
With Flagstaff Hill, via Balcarres Estate from Colinsburgh. Descended to the mill and pond. Lovely.Fife Walking15/10/2020
Used Minto's delightful route except I caught a bus to Colinsburgh and walked up the Den Burn from the crossroads to the east.Thearlaichdubh05/09/2020
From the east near balmakin track and path to the top, came back through fields to gate east of balcarres mains farm.robertphillips19/07/2020
I couldn't find any viable parking where suggested so used the access track from higher up on the road, at NO475054. Then path up to tower as othersColin Crawford19/07/2020
Exactly as Minto. A very pleasant walk.chrisbien06/07/2020
From the east. Parked on minor road between Balmakin and the cross-roads. Followed track SW to bridge. Then NW (marked as a path) turning left to the old water mill complex. From the waterwheel housing go S, over a little concrete bridge, and through trees on a little path, which goes all the way to the tower at the summit. It goes uphill, due South, on the strip of trees on the 48 grid line. The tower is locked.Minto04/07/2020
Cycled. From track to east, over stile through woodland to Tower (closed).Play2End30/04/2020
