| 2nd of 3 hills on a circular from roadside parking adjacent NE corner of Greengate wood. After Greengate wood headed North to climb over fence onto footpath and then followed it due South of hill and then skirted the 1st outcrop passing quite a few of what looked like Wild Daffodils until i climbed up to the top. | Wide verge where the footpath to the south starts enables off road parking. Follow this footpath until you reach the second gate. Don't go through this but turn right along an initially muddy track. This soon dries out to reveal a developing track to the deer gate which guards the forest. This leads to a second gate which gives access to the woods and the summit area. The crags aren't too difficult but can be avoided by approaching from the south or west. | moorsman | 11/05/2021 |

| I thought this would be an anti-climax after such a stunning day on the high fells but it was lovely to be in mixed woodland - the fells of Wasdale now pink in the evening light. Took the deer gate route (great advice). There's a faint path to the summit about 80m after the second deer gate. There are footpath signs in this area so no access problem. | 1/2 Parked opposite gate into NT woodland, worked way through woodland heading slightly to right from gate on a track, over wall at a low gap and up to summit in tussocks. Return to car area then along road, to pick up walled footpath track and followed instructions about deer gates to reach Orchard Hill (good instructions re the deer gates do use these folks). | nickywood1 | 15/08/2020 |
