Parked at junction of High Hill Lane and Stockdale Lane. Followed the Pennine Bridleway until I was SSE of Great Scar. Unfenced grass slopes to the summit. Back along the ridge through gates then descended south on Little Banks to join the public footpath to Warrendale Knotts.Dangerous Dave09/08/2023
9.8 mile circular from the parking area on High Hill Lane. Along Stockdale Lane and up easy grass slopes to Back Scar. Gates provide easy access to Grizedales. We then headed north across an easy fence towards the featureless Black Hill, then followed the Pennine Bridleway around to Jubilee and Victoria caves. Both are worth a slight detour. Up to Warrendale Knotts lovely summit then headed south towards High Hill. A gap in the wall provides access from the summit back to High Hill Lane. 588m ascent in improving weather. Nice views of the higher mountains.DanTrig07/07/2023
I was in the area watching my DofE students on the long day of their gold practice. I had a big gap between the front and back groups so had a wander up to here on a parallel with their route and bagged this summit. A lovely remote area but plenty of walls and dips on the route I had to take.meltdiceburg29/05/2023

A round of the hills (including 3 Deweys) between Malham and Settle from the car park to the south of Malham Tarn (SD 894 658),visiting Kirkby Fell, Rye Loaf Hill, Grizedales, Back Scar, High Hill, Warrendale Knotts and Black Hill. First snowy walk of the 2020-21 Winter. Stunning views of Ingleborough and Pen-y-ghent all clad in the white stuff! 22.2km with 720m ascent in 6h40m. (S)silveracorn_alan05/12/2020
17:30, 10 degrees, light north-westerlies, overcast. Suffering from sinusitis but nice to have a quiet stroll in the early evening breeze. Stockdale horseshoe would be a nice walk.Wycombe Wanderer07/10/2020
Parked at road junction as Catman. Walked to 400m beyond Stockdale Farm then up.Aye Jimmy16/09/2020

Revisit to take a photo. Parking at the start of Stockdale Lane which is metalled as far as the farm entrance gate. Here the path becomes a track to the left of the wall. There are 2 gates on this track, both of which are suitable indicators for heading diagonally across the open access to the summit. The first gate gives a less steep ascent but involves crossing a dip. This is easy enough, especially if you follow the wall from the first gate up to the summit of the ridge.moorsman22/06/2020
Lovely round of Kirkby Fell, Rye Loaf Hill, Back Scar and Grizedales using the Pennine Bridleway from the ENE. Parking for two cars.clivevilla09/06/2020
