The approaches through trees from the east are a waste of time and effort and the fields are well protected … I used the footpath next to Caesars PH to access the gravel track that meets the road at ST078183 … through the unlocked field gate opposite and up following the field boundaries | milejunkie | 25/01/2023 |
From the E via the steep sided brambly railway cutting with wet bottom. Easier once out of the cutting, pasture to summit knoll with brambles and dead bracken, Dead tree at high point. Probably much easier to ask permission to visit at Ty'n-y-coed! | RichardM | 09/01/2023 |
Can't recommend my route from the RoW to east which involves descending and ascending the steep, brambly sides of the disused railway cutting and crossing a boggy stream in its base. The summit is a small bramble and bracken knoll with lone tree in grassy sheep pasture. Parking at ST083 828- corner of road/ path junction but we were on a 20 mile circuit of Llantrisant. | Denise | 09/01/2023 |
From car park, down a path to the aqueduct and down to route of old railway. Followed north a bit too far then up bank and through a mixture of bluebells and brambles. Into top field and to HP. Back via gate and down bank to get back to the aqueduct. | PeterD | 22/05/2021 |
Parking for a few cars at bend in road (ST 0830 8276). There's probably an easier way up this hill than crossing the disused railway cutting at some random point 150m N of the parking spot. Steep down, steep up the other side and covered with fern, bramble, dead wood etc, not to mention the crappy stream running along the bottom... not really recommended. | jonglew | 27/09/2020 |
Missed the aquaduct and ended up in a proper mess climbing down and back up from the boggy railway track. Head high bracken and brambles. Came back a different route past a very splendid house but giving it a wide berth. | Campbell Singer | 17/07/2020 |
