Nice circular with Lesley from car park at junction of A495 & A528 directly onto canal into Town for lunch at the Cherry Tree cafe then up St. John's Hill and then via Bowling club path to top. Nice view of church from top with a section of Mere. Afterwards we headed down and re-entered Castlefields to look at the sculptures before doing a walk along the Mere before heading back heading for the car park and the start.Dazingdale02/03/2024

Straightforward from top of St John's Hill. Amazing location for a bowling green.Wycombe Wanderer25/10/2022

Parked to the West in St Johns Road. SJ40231 34706. Easy stroll to top green. With J.David Evans02/06/2022
A wander around Ellesmere with JT and Edie. Parking Mereside is £1 an hour. Busy considering its nyd. Easy stroll up tarmac then gravelly path to top green. Reasonable views out of the Mere. Shropshire region 38a recompleted.stig_nest01/01/2022
Noone else there on a grey Wednesday morning. Easiest ascent appears to be from the St John's hill road, not from the Mere and arboretum path as tried by us. Upper bowling green on top of old motte and bailey.Denise 22/12/2021
From the NE via path through the arboretum to open grassy slopes. We made a direct assault on the motte and bailey from the SE arriving at the groundman's hut on edge of the hilltop bowling green. Descend on track to St John's Hill road - seemingly public access and much easier! Merely £1 to park beside the lake. FB on church.RichardM22/12/2021
Short round on the bike from near The Mere. Summit probably beside the green which had been resown post season. Just realised that the Normans pushed this hill over the line so unticked- but I have been upfasgadh08/10/2021

Bowling green car park - SJ 40273 34700. Yes, I stood on the green (the summit) - early Sundaycarole engel01/11/2020
Ellesmere was a very busy spot this afternoon, including the bowling green summit. The players let me walk around the perimeter, even showed me the best viewpoint - just beyond club hut looking down on church and Mere. Had a feeling that the green sloped up very, very gently to the W, took a reading there...Aye Jimmy20/09/2020
I've lived here for 6 years and never been to the actual summit of this. I had been as far as the lower bowling green but didn't realise it carried on up. Cracking view over The Mere that I enjoyed as wellgreboicus16/09/2020
Bagged whilst enjoying a day around Ellesmere and the Mere. Interupted a game of bowls.Andrew Pearson08/09/2020
Used to live in Ellesmere but never been up this one. There are lots of interesting bumps and lumps in this area, also the area on the Whitchurch Road always feels high up. This was a lovely short walk from the castlefields, which are beautiful. There was a scratty cat on the bowling green. Not a soul otherwise.tumpawumpa04/07/2020
A haven in the middle of a thunderstorm. Crossed the Welsh border 6 times, getting there and back home.GordonAdshead16/06/2020
Parked in Bowling Cub cp. Easy walk up to the upper bowling green and club sadly closed for C 19. An unusual quirky summit but very pleasant. With Barbara.Campbell Singer13/06/2020

Ellesmere is a lovely little town.clivevilla21/05/2020
Level grassy summit, HP a few m S of footpath, exact location unclear. Revisit to check summit now it's been promoted, and for a few more BMsRHW17/05/2020
On the Bowling Club green. It's a crown green so I guess the high point is somewhere in the middle.summitsup17/05/2020
