From farm at 008806, parked there with permission. Easy tracks up to summit wind farm. Descended in twilight.Topographer5708/09/2019
From Chapel Car Park, SO0006780152, 4.5m circular, lovely weather and good views.Jephcote8319/04/2019
Windmill overload but still a very pleasant gradual walk up from Newtown.Alex C02/11/2018
From Y Foel. A steep climb up bracken to pt479 and the broad ridge, followed by the road to the top. Down to Cloesffynnon farm on nice farm track.Alan Moore10/10/2018
First of three Dewey’s from the entrance to a wood at 00557 77901 down the road from Glyndwr’s way, on a fourteen mile walk taking five hours. Route continued onto Crugyn Llywd and Brondre fawr hill.WAYNE ROWLETT25/08/2018
Parked at the Community Centre SO 001817 and went down the hill then up the hill via the ROW's up onto Graig then across to the cairn. Bagged the trig as well. Very Hot and steep. Returned same route with elizyanneGmacT19/07/2018
Oh the down before the long up is pretty but you know it will be an up on your return! It felt like a long slog probably because of the heat.elizyanne19/07/2018
A pleasant walk from Cloesffynnon farm, up the main track. The farmer very kindly offered me a parking place in the farmyard, and was very relaxed about the prospect of a trespass up the track. Great conversation with him when I got back, about sheep and wind farms.Gill15/02/2018
Parked at road end north of Cloesffynnon and walked to the highest point on the wind farm. Operated ham radio from summit for SOTA.G4OBK (Phil)12/01/2018
Easy parking on road corner by community centre to W. Up and down on good tracks.rhalstead29/05/2017
Drove along roads signposted Wind Farm to Bryn Dadlau then run to summit and back. Sunshine and cloud, light winds, views from Brecon Beacons to Cader Idris, as for the last 3 days. I took a map, but if you follow signs to high number L turbines, they take you to the summit which is obvious from over a mile away. Good surface on tracks all the way, some gates locked but easy to negotiate. Just over an hour made this hill surprisingly enjoyable but I think I would have got fed up with it if I'd done it at walking pace.pwheeler02/05/2017
Also parked at farm to SW there the sheep were in the midst of giving birth. Waled up to the windfarm along the footpaths and then along the plateau through the windfarm. It would have been fine except one of them needed oiling.Father Ted24/03/2017
with Alastair and Sarah. Asked permission at Cloesffynnon farm and parked at the end of the tarmac just to the side of the road. Easy ascent of the wind farm access track to trig point for SOTA activation in the fog.M0YDH17/12/2016

Parked at the windfarm HQ to the NE. Extremely still day, with low cloud. Atmospheric!huwthomas25/08/2016
#593 - 4th of the day. Parked at 00914 80906 and took track up to another windfarm.tim74709/06/2016
With Trefor. 4th Marilyn today. Caught in another heavy snow/hail shower, the story of today. Parked at fork in road above Felin Gythos. Followed wind farm access road to near summit. Great viewpoint and interesting to see the wind farm.mike.hoult29/04/2016
Easy ascent up wind farm track.Lionel Bidwell03/04/2016
Parked on side of road SO0032580387 followed farm tracks on right of ways until near summit which is large cairn with gnarled tree truck sticking out & a nearby trig point. Back at car had a chat with nice farmer who having seen maps was concerned more wind turbines were being planned. Spoils the scenery - he spoke with much wisdom.CodyleCoyote22/03/2016
Parked at 006805 and followed the track to the wind farm and trig point. Continued on and descended the bridleway back to road head, although this hasn't seen any use for a while. A pleasant evening stroll (assuming you don't get worked up about the wind farm) but recommended on a windless day, as the turbines are noisy.mindlessflogger19/06/2015
With: hb; Ascent from road end at SO009808 on access track to summit. Two Radio Hams were huddled around the summit in the persistant rain. We left them to it.Ian Baines12/03/2015
Final Marilyn of the tour w Jenx. Up the track from farm as described by others to the turbine cluster. Trig has a ghostly feel and is in the process of dis-assembling itself in the grim location, not helped by swirling mist and the turbine din. Bearings sound on the way out. Cairn still has the stump, like the hill in general.nordicstar14/12/2014
A steady climb from the west, making good use of the access track to the wind farm. (PM,CM)gerrybowes27/10/2014
Parked the car and headed east and up the track at dusk. With GB and CM.bolton27/10/2014

Parked at SO006805 as recommended by others below. Ascended NE by bridleway to ridge, then south over Pegwn Mawr on wind-farm tracks. Visited Crugyn Llwyd before descending.davidpettit8406/09/2014

From forest road near Bwlch-y-Sarnau Hill following track round on ROW (with a short gap) to CROW land for Crugyn Llwyd then over to Pegwn Mawr (gates to wind farm area) before returning on broadly same line. SS26/05/2014

from Bryn Dadlau on gravel tracks all the way - a mountain bike would have made quick work of this visit. lovely day but for the considerable breeze - the whirlygigs turning at quite a lick. the views up here are huge.. yes the turbines do get in the way but also give some grand scale to the place.. Trig has seen better days and the cairn still has the dead pine tree sticking out. A good hill to visit whilst listening to music!!stig_nest13/04/2014
From West.geralddavison22/02/2014
Iain drove all the way up near the top. Hill is covered with windmills.tallblond18/11/2012

Left car just below farm at 007805 (10:10) and walked up track to wind farm at summit (anti-clockwise turbines not moving on a still day!). Ancient cairn at summit near trig pt. Back to car 11:30 dbb14/06/2009
From end of road to WSW. Track followed up the hill to forest of turbines. Also a trig in tatty condition, and slightly higher a cairn with dead tree sticking out of it.Aye Jimmy19/03/2009

From the road at Felin Gytrhos we walked up the Windfarm road to the wind turbines. The trig point was found amongst these giant blades that made a particularly disturbing noise. We headed down a path back to the car.ChinnockC25/10/2008
Parked at 060787 and climbed NW via Banc Du to Hirddywel and then Pegwn Mawr, very hard going and wet in places! Then set off S to Crugwyn-Llwyd avoiding the worst of the bog by going slightly W, keeping to the high ground. Finally we returned to Banc Du,steve hudson18/08/2008
Eerie. Cairn higher than the trig.destaylor15/08/2008
I must have walked close by this summit at least 7 times on the various Across Wales Walks I've completed but never visited it before! This time walked up from farm at SO 008 805 and found what must be the largest windfarm in the UK on the top. I countedsignyred13/11/2007

Quick bag after work. Parked on verge at road junction SO006805 and ran up on farm tracks and windfarm roads. Very windy - could hardly hold camera still to take photos. Large windfarm on top.robphys12/11/2004

Parked at SO007805 to the west and again briefly used Glyndŵr?s Way to reach an access track to the wind farm. Then just a matter of using this to walk amongst the turbines and reach the top.garyhoney17/02/2002
8 marilyns solo in mid-Wales, drive and running by 8.20am. Day after Yossi Brain -mountain guide memorial in Walsall & night in bunkhouse at PYB. calm, damp with damp cloud higher up.Chris Pearson14/11/1999

Rhayader Dewey bagging, walk 3/8; Pegwn Mawr and Crugyn Llwyd from road @ 006805, old sign suggesting maybe restricted access, track almost to summit. Smallish tumulus ~1m higher than trig, fine views, big wind farm RHW28/02/1998
