I left the A479 at Waun Fach hamlet and parked near Blaunea-Fry, just short the bridleway approaching Waun Fach mountain from the south-west. The place to park is on a corner near a cattle grid, but not please obstructing the adjacent heavy machinery gate which the farmer needs to use. Waun Fach took me about an hour and 45 mins without rushing, plenty of photos. The top is unremarkable but gave stunning panoramic views. I would love to know what distant mountains I could see. Revived I rundled back down to the cairn I passed at the top of bridleway and on to path up Mynydd Llysiau and on to bag Pen Allt-mawr. At the boundary stones before Pen Twyn Glas stand two grave 19c grave stones. I couldnt make out the inscription, but imagine they may have been a loving couple. On nearing the summit of Pen Allt-mawr follow the less steep path to the right, as this is easier than blundering straight up the crags adding to the erosion. Again more great views, especially of Mynydd Troed and the Pete West21/06/2019

Included in circular walk from bridge near Neuadd Farm, GR 234229, start with Pen Cerrig Calch, finish with Pen Twyn Mawr and down Pen Gwyllt Meirch and round to bridge start point. Once you have slogged and reached Pen Cerrig Calch summit you have basically gained the height. Mostly a leisurely stroll from then on. Start 10.30am finish 5.30pm. Can easily be done in less.Dewi Prysor13/05/2017

From bridge on hairpin bend. Took permissive path through immediate field on west side of bridge. Cross lane onto another permissive path which leads to path on map beside wood. On reaching the ford go upstream a few metres where there is a second ford which takes you onto a good rising grass track and onto hill.Campbell Singer28/01/2016
