From Ramblers CP near Nettleton via Viking Way, continued walk to Walesby and back. Should anybody be missing them there is a nice pair of Sealskinz gloves (plus woolly hat) by the trig. | TK | 06/12/2023 |
Early morning ascent. Clear, sunny and cool. | Play2End | 14/10/2023 |
I was planning on visiting here tomorrow on my bike but arrived in Market Rasen to give me time to walk to the top from Walesby. Waded through/around the Oilseed Rape to find the summit. | pclyndes | 13/05/2023 |
From W after an orienteering event at Chambers Wood to the S which was more exciting tbh. | davechaffey | 05/02/2023 |
With V, Stephanie, Thurstan and Caroline on the SS to Cambridge walk. | laurencemorris | 07/01/2023 |
Visited after Castcliffe. I decided to cut short my planned route so just parked on the verge near the junction of Normanby road with the road leading to the radar station. I headed up Normanby road and then headed East over a gate leading directly to the Trig pillar and the alternative top to the East. I descended along a field edge to pass the radar station and then over an awkward gate back onto the road to the start. Nice to complete LIncolnshire on the highest point and rarely a Marilyn, My 175th apparently. | Dazingdale | 03/12/2022 |
Stopped in the car on a journey north. Directions from Moorsman below spot on. | richard69 | 16/11/2022 |
With Claire. Parked at Ramblers CP South of Nettleton. Picked up Viking Way in Nettleton and followed to road from Acre Ho. Then followed hedge to trig point. | MickyRoss | 19/10/2022 |
Slight detour after a trip to Skegness and Mablethorpe, raining and foggy evening. | Nick Canute | 12/09/2022 |
From the west. Views from the wider area are nice even if the summit itself isn't. | sturuss | 05/08/2022 |
Day 2 of a 4 Day County Top Trip. Did Nottinghamshire and then Lincolnshire's County Top with my cousin. Great weather, with great views over flat Lincolnshire to the east. We both reached the trig not too far away from the iconic 'golf ball' radar system. Walked down into a valley before going back to the car. | DavidHiner | 20/03/2022 |
Plentiful verge parking immediately north of Acre House alongside the start of the bridleway Follow this path as far as the second hedgeline on the right. A rickety gate gives access into the field and, if you keep on the same side of the hedge along a wide field edge, it brings you straight up to the trig. | moorsman | 13/01/2022 |
Parked on verge near radar station and walked up field edge through gate (open) in the field to the left to it. Trig point on far side of perpendicular hedge at the top of the field. Section 37 complete! | Rockdoctor | 06/11/2021 |
On our way back from Norfolk to Cumbria we made a detour to bag this county top. We asked permission from the farm at Acre House , which was freely given with advice on the easiest route. | RowanP | 22/10/2021 |
Normanby Top (The Wolds) [Acre 2995] from GR: TF 12403 96073 | ronaldo333 | 08/09/2021 |
From the walkers car park just South of Nettleton, walked back down the road to pick up the Viking Way, followed all the way until it met the track coming from Acre House, turned East to near track end where there was a bit of an old gate. Crossed over gate here and followed lovely ploughed field (with path on RHS as if he's prepared it for baggers) straight up LHS of hedge to top of field and you'll meet the trig. At the top. Reversed direction to track then along to Acre house and 1.5 mile walk down very quiet country road to car park. 5 miles round trip, all pretty quick walking, Was out for less than 2hrs. | JulieB | 04/09/2021 |

P Radar Station, left hand gate, along field edge with convenient gaps at junction nr trig. | agentmancuso | 07/08/2021 |
From road to W, along hedgelines. The best view is from the road which is on top of an escarpment. Drive from Warwick to Scarborough gave a good chance to bag this neglected Ma. | pwheeler | 05/06/2021 |
Parked near the gate slightly west of the radar station. Felt alone in a vast empty landscape as I followed the hedgerows to the trig point. | edmundjohnson | 18/10/2020 |
Mountains in Lincolnshire. Who knew? | summitter | 24/09/2020 |
Another day out to bag some of the county tops from Jonny Muir's book and a few additional hills. This was the second of the day. Up from Mount Pleasant after having driven past the radar station and choosing not to hop over the locked gates next door. | Buck | 15/08/2020 |
From the west with Kath. | Andrew Brown 2 | 30/07/2020 |
With Val. Called at Acre House and the landowner very kindly gave permission and showed us the quickest route to the TP.
Not the most exciting Marilyn in the country but it is now bagged. Due to Covid 19 this is my first Marilyn this year. | mike.hoult | 06/07/2020 |
With Mike | Val Deisler | 06/07/2020 |
From Acre House. Permission granted by phoning land owner - helpful directions given. Climbed over wooden gate at end of second field south of AH, followed hedge to right and kept to hedge on right in next field. Trig point to left of hedge. | peter4lc | 05/06/2020 |
Circuit on a very grey day from Rothwell via Rothwell Top Farm, then along the hedgerow to pick up the top, along with several yellowhammers and hundreds of migrating golden plovers. Walked back via Nettleton Grange (very thick churned-up clay; absolutely requires wellies and a good balance) and over round the N and E of Rothwell Stackgarth. A very quiet and varied walk with some good views over the Humber in places. | jkl | 15/03/2020 |
Permission given at Acre House. Quick bag along hedgeline. | Alan Caine | 01/01/2020 |
Long drive over from Yorkshire, then a short walk down the field edges to the trig at the summit. A bit of an anti-climax! | silveracorn_alan | 19/10/2019 |
Parked by radar station and nipped up with no issues. Fields harvested. | assynt_bob | 29/09/2019 |
Drive by on return to norfolk. Cloudy day as rain blowing over, still fine views. | Stephen | 22/09/2019 |
From Acre Farm to west, parking on verge. Fields harvested- stubble. Hazy views. My first new English Marilyn for ages. | Denise | 14/09/2019 |
Visited on my own while on a hill bagging trip to Lincolnshire and surrounding areas. | magirob | 11/09/2019 |
Called at Acre House and permission to visit freely given. As recommended left road at TF 116962 and followed field boundaries (grass strip in first field and tramlines in second). Also went through gap east of trig to wander round field to south, which seemed as high (crop had been harvested in this field) | AlanD | 20/08/2019 |
From gate by radar station. Gap in hedge just opposite trig point. | squeegs | 17/08/2019 |
From the radar station, through the bars of the nearby gate and along the field margin. Into the next field to the trig. | NormanW | 30/07/2019 |
Tried to get there on Viking Way - had to abort. Drove closer - parked up and nipped into the field along the hedge | D SID | 16/05/2019 |
8m circular from Walesby, up BW from farm then across field to trig and down by radar tower. No views but pleasant walk | Jephcote83 | 07/04/2019 |
From Caister along the viking way and field edges, with Ellie dog. | BLACKHILL | 11/02/2019 |
Followed hedgeline at side of field to W of the radar. The trig point was on the N side of the hedge at the t junction of hedges shown on the map. Rather than heading back the same way I continued N along the hedge down to the RoW, but this was more visible to the farm to the NW. | Wheelsy | 03/11/2018 |
With my daughter from the radar station up the hedgerow and along field beyond. Decent views for so little effort. | SS | 22/09/2018 |
Viking way from Nettleton | tomd4 | 01/09/2018 |
From SE along hedge rows from radar station | Topographer57 | 05/08/2018 |
From north east, along bridle path, up side of field. No need to climb hedges. Hot day but sun setting. | Rounsfell | 27/07/2018 |
Parked on verge near gate just south west of radar station. Entered field south west of field that contains radar station. Followed hedge line north west, went through gap in hedge at end of field (long trousers advised in summer) to enter the north west corner of the field that contains the radar station. Immediately went through next gap to enter field to north. Followed hedge to south west to the trig point. | Danmawr | 07/07/2018 |
With Katy via Viking Way .. Hazy | George Thompson | 28/04/2018 |
Fun dashing about here in the moonlight with some quite silly tunes playing on the iPod. Didn't realise it at the time but this was my last M in Region 37. | Alex C | 20/04/2018 |
