In the area, ringing bells at Rotherfield. Took the opportunity to visit the new highpoint, and wandered around Warren Road. Also revisited the old highpoint. | PGCE | 18/01/2024 |
Parked in Warren Road and wandered along the Deep Dene side of the road and back on the other side. Break in the journey back from a family Xmas do. | richard69 | 20/12/2023 |
From station, 1.5 miles uphill. Was treated to coffee and cake by kind folk at All Saints Church. | peter4lc | 09/12/2023 |
R non existent Marilyn! | Richard Tait | 30/07/2023 |
Walk w/Devon. Parked Crowborough. Trig, Summit, Black Hill and finished at White Hart Pub for Sunday Roast. | ZacField | 23/07/2023 |
Parked on Warren Road, went to where the GPS said the summit was from hillbagging GR. Walked a few hundred metres down the road to view the trig point in the compound for completeness. On the way from the South Downs to Detling Hill. Don't think I'll be revisiting this one. | JulieB | 14/02/2022 |
A visit on a murky winter's afternoon. Filling up the car at the petrol station down the road was considerably more interesting. | milimana | 17/12/2021 |
Epic trek from Morrisons car park. | Andy West | 06/04/2021 |
Not sure what to say. Parked in Warren Road and stood in the middle of the road where the top appeared to be | ketzster | 31/03/2021 |
With Val. What a pathetic summit! Done on a trip to the SE to tidy up the Marilyns in this area. | mike.hoult | 16/08/2020 |
last of 5 hills bagged today. Had to be done but I don't see the point. | mazz | 16/08/2020 |
Enjoyed a 10 mile walk in a loop including Crowborough. | atreides7887 | 02/08/2020 |
En route from home to Dorking to pick up Jen. | Rounsfell | 03/07/2020 |
Like most, drove down Warren Road looking for trig, made a guess on crest of hill. | Hippy77 | 16/02/2020 |
That enthusiastic about this one I’d driven past the end of the road on two previous trips. So it was third time lucky for this wonderous hump. My undivided attention for all of 5 seconds. Had to be done. Gotta get ‘em all. :-) | Pete West | 28/01/2020 |
6/6 Marilyn Day. Arrived after dark, following a grand day doing the Marilyns of the South Downs. Parked in the residential street and searched for the appropriate entrance drive to bag Crowborough. Then visited tyhe trig. (S) | silveracorn_alan | 27/10/2019 |
Drive up. Pointless, but I was in the area for an orienteering event at nearby Pippingford Park. | davidpettit84 | 20/10/2019 |
Uninspired | Longwojo | 02/08/2019 |
Walked in from Ashdown Forest. Nice track through bluebell woods. | prwild | 06/05/2019 |
Revisit en route back to YHA South Downs from Holly Hill. | Dugswell2 | 22/03/2019 |
Parked at Deepdene on Warren Road. | NormanW | 15/02/2019 |
Neither side of road inspired me!! | nickywood1 | 19/11/2018 |
Difficult to choose where to start climbing this hill as it's on a suburban street. Decided to follow the logger who went from the railway station. pleasant little town; coffee afterwards. | IanHHill | 30/09/2018 |
After the nearby laying to rest of my last surviving uncle. Sorry about the negative comments here. A few drive-ups here and there add to the fun of it and contrast nicely with long and trackless bogs and heath. | Topographer57 | 06/08/2018 |
With elizyanne. Did both trig and road to try and create a bit of excitement over this bag. didnt work. | GmacT | 09/07/2018 |
In a lady's drive. She came out and was quite interested. | clivevilla | 17/04/2018 |
9/11 Parked, looked about - gravelled private garden looks higher than road. | SS | 09/02/2018 |
Parked and did the trig in compound then drove up the road to the most boring summit ever! | jmistry86 | 12/01/2018 |
6/11M drove up got out wandered about roads paths etc. | robertphillips | 05/11/2017 |
I sometimes question the sanity of Marilyn baggers. | Gill | 06/07/2017 |
With K. I am ashamed that we drove all this way just to bag this. | Ashley | 30/04/2017 |
Yup....really drove and parked up, stretched legs to the trig point. 1st of 8 | N.Morters | 13/04/2017 |
Walked up from the station. One nice section through Crowborough country park, otherwise unremarkable | Mark Jackson | 25/02/2017 |
Parked on summit (almost) on roadside outside Warren Oak. Looked higher on opposite side of road next to gas utility street furniture, but from there high point looked to be in front garden of Warren Oak. Managed to make a walk of it by turning left on A26 and visiting bonus bag of Crowborough (Old GR) and bigger bonus trig pillar. | mntainman | 18/12/2016 |
Almost 100% pointless. | twg27 | 03/10/2016 |
Sixth and final Marilyn of the day. Whilst Crowborough is pleasant enough, the drive-by nature of this one makes it one to tick off rather than particularly enjoy. | Cas-gwent | 04/04/2016 |
Parked at Golf Club and activated for SOTA from within a nearby thicket of trees. Once in a lifetime visit! | M0YDH | 20/03/2016 |
Wandered around the vicinity of Deep Dene on Warren Road to bag this eneventful hill after visiting Scotney Castle. | Peterb | 14/02/2016 |
did trig near reservoir and decided that HP was on nearby Warren Road. cold day. | Denise | 30/01/2016 |
did after visiting old trig point top | Fergalh | 12/12/2015 |
And so, after a splendid day on the South Downs walking Ditchling Beacon, Cliffe Hill, Firle Beacon and Wilmington Hill, it comes down to this ..... | SteveG | 09/12/2015 |
4th visit to this nuisance. Took two visits to get to the former summit at the trig before the summit moved. 1st visit thwarted due to police doing a speed trap watching me, so deterred from climbing into compound, and then returned another time to claim the trig before returning for a 3rd time in 1999 for the new Warren Gardens summit and now 16 years later driving past had another nosey around. Summit cul-de-sac at house named appropriately Folly's End. | Chris Pearson | 07/12/2015 |
Another expertly planned and expertly executed step out of the car | catman | 12/11/2015 |
Visited while in the area. | rhalstead | 17/10/2015 |
Walked up here while doing a three hill hike to Black Hill. | steverd | 12/10/2015 |
After a walk to Crowborough (old GR) I took the short walk to Crowborough then onto Warren street and onto Black Hill. | Dragonzilla | 12/10/2015 |

Visit and weep. Highest point is in someones garden. Found the trig point hidden away behind a hedge and thought back to the time when the surveyors would have taken their sightings of all the surrounding trig points but today the longest view is 10m. However it stands as a reminder to what has been happening to the country side for a long time - it's a limited resouce and it continues to get built on. I expect the owners of the nearby houses sit behind their high hedged houses, try to shut out the noise of the traffic and jet planes and watch escape to the country, unaware that this place was once the country side. | mindlessflogger | 21/08/2014 |
My brother wanted to bag this one so he drove there after our visit to Downe House. We bagged it, drove a few more miles, and went for a proper walk in Ashdown Forest- good rambling country. No sensible walkers would think that the highest point of this area is a this miserable spot by the A26 and in this case the saying 'ignorance is bliss' rings true. | pwheeler | 03/05/2014 |
Rubbish | simon and co | 07/03/2014 |
Parked in Warren Road, about 15m from the high point – Got out of the car and mooched around the area opposite Deep Dene. Then had a short walk along Beacon Road to the trig point and reservoir. (Solo) | gerrybowes | 12/02/2014 |
No comment! | AndrewFinnimore | 23/11/2013 |
summit is in lawn of garden on outside of bend on warren road, but why not take it as the trig.. some oik has spray tagged it.. i cleaned the flush bracket and gave him a hug. | stig_nest | 21/09/2013 |
3rd marilyn for the car in as many months. Not inspiring. Old top w trig and water tower much better. | nordicstar | 06/07/2013 |
In snowstorm | Bramley | 03/04/2013 |
An uninspiring summit. | JohnStoneham | 24/10/2012 |
Drove to the top & parked outside Deep Dene. Very uninspiring. | hmt1000 | 17/05/2012 |
Oh dear, what a joke. Should have travelled by bike but instead, just stepped out of a car. | Eddie | 03/04/2012 |
Hardly worth the drive. Drizzle, mild, calm, nice houses. | iangalbraith | 08/11/2011 |
Solo | 1921 | 02/04/2011 |
Another indeterminate one. Went to official summit but another spot about 30m away seemed as good a bet as any, outside 'Warren Gate', near bend in road. | Aye Jimmy | 12/12/2010 |
Went to nearest point on street to summit recorded in database. It was just inside a garden. Also visited comms tower where trig point could be seen inside fence. | dbb | 03/08/2010 |
With K,J and M. | The Captain | 12/02/2010 |
I came, I drove there - there is many things but not a mountain top!! | gigglejon | 15/12/2009 |
Anothe drive in. I visited the given grid reference or at least the pavement outside and then walked up the road to the resevoir and bagged the trig point also. | Father Ted | 15/08/2009 |
Didn't waste much time here. A flat topped hill with a town on it was never going to be that great. Would have benefited from a couple of topless sunbathers as at Devil's Dyke. | Herbert Anchovy | 29/06/2009 |
Solo. Walked up from the supermarket car park while everyone stayed in the van. Visited the trig first then wandered around the streets visiting all the potentially highest points. | Dangerous Dave | 21/06/2009 |
Reservoir is the highest manmade point around. Would love to go inside that tower! | Nick | 29/03/2009 |
Climbed from London by train. | Man of Kernow1 | 11/11/2008 |
Unlike my brother and, it would seem, a lot of baggers, started at Crowborough station and explored the town a bit, 'bagged' the relevant bit of pavement/garden/driveway & then had a pleasant wander out over Crowborough Common. Felt a bit overdressed though in the walking kit... | NotReallyABagger | 28/08/2008 |
petey | 21/03/2008 | |
First of several Marilyns on visit to Region 42 for Easter orienteering. | JohnW | 21/03/2008 |
Near trig a metal ladder gives easy access to reservoir top at 51173073 which is by far the highest grassy 'land' though o'topped by fine tower. Visited back garden of Holly Court and various gardens & wheelie bins in Warren Road to check for 242m point. | signyred | 27/01/2008 |
KeithByTheC | 25/10/2007 | |
Third Marilyn of the day which was always dull and cloudy with occasional rain.Warren Road just around corner from junction with Beacon Road gave a height of 247m at TQ5100930624 on my GPS?. Man made Beacon Resevoir and Tower are worth a visit. | Dugswell2 | 10/10/2007 |
Grid reference is in a garden. You can get to about 10 - 15m of it but thats it. Head is well above the level though as its all much of a muchness around there. | destaylor | 05/02/2007 |
Flying visit before dawn on the way to South Downs. Part of five top day. | Overthehilljill | 11/11/2006 |
(Estimated date) | JOHNS | 01/08/2006 |

Um - was driving past.. | nix_snilloc | 24/09/2000 |
Unique in UK marilyns - the summit is undeterminable and town based.
Parked in town and took a walk around the area of the highest part of town. | chinnock | 01/05/2000 |
Possibly the oddest Marilyn - we parked up and found the water tower & trig point - and then went shopping. | ChinnockC | 01/05/2000 |
Started the climb from the Half Moon Inn at TQ 498 334 and ascended mainly by road to Warren Road / Gardens. Also climbed the reservoir by the trig point. | garyhoney | 12/03/2000 |
Date is first visit. Notes from later.... warren road | RHW | 19/06/1999 |
03/08/1993 A summer's evening of marilyn bagging (list just 1 year old then!).Working in Hastings on secondment.1st time put off climbing into water compound for trig by police (doing a radar trap)watching me. Revisited ? yrs later when police-less to do compound and trig then the top moved so went back again 22/03/99 to do current top | Chris Pearson | 22/03/1999 |
While camping at Crowborough. | arranc | 11/10/1998 |
