The weather was supposed to be terrible today, with heavy rain/snow and high winds, so we decided to go for a walk in the Mamores instead of heading up to Ben Nevis. We did the westernmost part of the Ring of Steall, heading up An Gearanach and west to Stob Ban. A nice ridge walk, in what turned out to be pretty good weather.pwithnall24/03/2015

Parked in the Lower Falls car park near Achriabhach. I passed through a gate nearer to Achriabhach than the car park and followed a path south, somewhat faint and muddy initially, up the hillside. Higher up the path became more defined and joined the N ridge of Stob Ban. At an altitude of about 850m there is a steep tower. The scramble up it was straightforward as there was not much snow on it. On the final slopes to Stob Ban there were snowfields which were ascended although they could have to some extent been avoided. From the summit of Stob Ban I then traversed all tops to reach the summit of Mullach nan Coirean.pwbellarby06/04/2000

Long day, one I call 'Pride comes before a fall' started on Mullach nan Coirean. After Stob Ban,Alison and Helen head down valley, only Gill and I head on east, Sgor an Iubhair, along the snowy Devils Ridge still in cloud to Sgurr a'Mhaim. Coming NW off summit, intention's to head straight down NW ridge to be met for lift at the River Nevis bridge. Again having not taken a bearing at the top, by time I do, realise we're heading N and have curved round off missing a subtle split in the ridge. Know that we should head back up a little but Gill firmly suggests we continue on. I fear this is bad decision as its much steeper ground lower on the north side and we’ll also have much further to go along valley floor but am tired and don't argue my case. Lower down we’re descending a steep gully, I slip a bit on scree, dislodge a few big boulders and one of them comes down, whacks me very hard on back of my right calf. I wince and feel this is karmic retribution from earlier egotistical pride vegibagger05/04/1998

Unlogged summit climbed while living / holidaying in Scotland between 1972 and 1987. A great day out from Glen Nevis, clear but cloudy. Over Sgurr a' Mhaim and along the Devil's ridge to Sgor an Iubhair, then on over Stob Ban to Mullach nan Coirean.BURGESS31/08/1987

My brother's first ever Munro. By the end of the day he had done six (one demoted to a top since). We went straight up the delightful N ridge from Polldubh. On a clear, sunny day after early morning fog. Strong E breeze in valleys, no stronger on tops. We traversed this mountain again in 1996 after compleating the Mamores with Mullach nan Coirean.pwheeler22/05/1985

Initially with a friend. From Glen Nevis we walked along forest tracks, then rough path beside Allt a’ Choire Riabhaich to reach the summit of Mullach nan Coirean and then the SE top. My friend left me here to ascend other things. I continued alone to Stob Ban, Sgurr an Iubhair, Stob a’ Choire Mhail, and Sgurr a’ Mhaim. On the descent I found a path going well up Glen Nevis. I descended over steep ground to the bridge over the burn at NN158684. I crossed the bridge and went along the road to the car. Very warm and sunny, clear.pwbellarby12/05/1985
