6 mile loop with Pauline from the south parked in small lay by on lane next to Penylanfach … trig, old quarry and Lonely Shepherd … taking advantage of dry tracks … fascinating area | milejunkie | 04/08/2022 |
Vaguely followed the PRW from the car park beneath the quarries. Stunning views. | Rob Rees | 04/01/2022 |
Gentle reintroduction to the Welsh hills after latest lockdown. Parked in the Llangatwg Quarry Car Park, headed up to the Lonely Shepherd then across to Twr Pen-Cyrn. Came off the hill using the North-South path, then back under the escarpment. On my own. Sunny to start with, becoming more cloudy and threatening later. | clyoung | 12/05/2021 |
From the free car park to the north at 20911 15399, walked through the quarry and then followed right of way passing the summit. Two and half mile in an hour. | WAYNE ROWLETT | 18/01/2020 |

Family walk from the car park below the quarries to the NE. Had lunch in the sunshine in the quarries and then headed up to the summit for cakes. Was the best place to be on a day like this as nice breeze on the top on a very hot day. | Herbert Anchovy | 20/04/2019 |
Snow cover, blue skies. Approached from south, initial plan from the east thwarted by icy roads | Adrian | 02/02/2019 |
From carpark to N via intermittent paths/sheep trods. I think I've been here before in my caving days. | Chris Peart | 03/10/2018 |
From quarry car park. Footpath on map barely exists. Massive summit cairns. Interesting but unattractive hill. Solo. | Dangerous Dave | 15/09/2018 |
Parked in car park at 208153 – W. along former limestone quarry track for ½km to remains of old quarry buildings – Up path which skirts W. end of quarry & then along intermittent path to the trig point. (S) | gerrybowes | 29/09/2017 |
Started at car park at 208153, headed SE then up on to the escarpment. Summit easily bagged, things went a little awry as we tried to find our way NW along the plateau to head on down to the road and then back through Craig y Cilau Nature Reserve. Found Eglwys Faen on the way back to the car. | clyoung | 16/07/2017 |

From opposite old works up past dry reservoir and on over right of way to the summit with its two large cairns and trig point. Return same way as rain came back. 36 minutes without the cagoule though! | SS | 16/03/2015 |

After a 3 mth break (knee op, car crash) nice looped walk up from Crickhowell town to make it a 8 miler. I know hill-bagging is what it is, but whats the point in driving to the top... I won't catch Anton now after 3 months off :-( | dicky | 24/11/2013 |

Birthday walk with Patricia followed by meal in Llanwenarth Arms Hotel. Super meal, average hill. | arranc | 02/10/2012 |
Parking to NNE. Track to start through the grassed slag heaps. Amazing place - a lot of hard work has been done there. Then the path not very good after the rock edge. Bits and pieces then all the way. Heather around. | destaylor | 24/08/2012 |
Parked in the car park to the north having driven in on the steep and narrow road from Llangattock. Explored the cave entrance first then over the moor to the sroney top. Two massive shelters enough for everyone in Wales adorn the top | Father Ted | 22/07/2012 |
