Medium to heavy drizzle for most of the afternoon whilst exploring about up here, though it could have been a fair bit worse I guess. Had the secateurs with me and so cut back a clear route in from the fence corner approach into the firebreak to the NE. No need for any tree bashing really if coming in from that direction now.Alex C12/10/2022
Parked at start of track to W. at SN 8566 8741 - NE along track to edge of forest & then SE along fence line (3 gates) to fence corner - Over barbed wire fence & then WSW along wide & rough firebreak to its high point; start of the firebreak is not obvious due to self-seeded trees - From firebreak, made way through trees on N. side of plantation for about 15m to the summit GR which appears to lie in a small clearing of grass, heather & bilberry. Parked to E at entrance to forest track. Up track, then along firebreak from SW: slow going, with low brambles covering the rotting brash. Returned along firebreak NE, which was mainly deep heather with just a few trees to push through to reach the field corner. Then down edge of forest over 3 gates to reach track back into forest to rejoin outward route.PGCE12/08/2021
from hafren forest cp track till out of plantation fencline se to corner of open field fire break to highest pts return same wayunderhill21/12/2020
From the picnic area car park at SN 87000 89206. Took the Glyndwr Way SSE to the forest, then followed the forest edge SW/SSW to the fence corner. A short push through the trees brought me onto a wide firebreak. Followed this SW to its highest point, where a gap in the trees brought me N up to the conifer-choked highest point. Then retraced my steps to the Glyndwr Way, following it down to a track east, and up the RoW N, cut through the forest. Then a forest bash over the 420m countour area. Then took track north to the lane by the reservoir, and W along it back to the car. All rather an unpleasant conifer bash! Solo.Man of Kernow112/12/2020
Parked at 856874, up the track. I took the track which forks left aiming for the open ground which worked well until the reentry into the forest. So I tried to head south to find the other track on my return but that was not significantly better. Maybe I did not find the correct fire break.clivevilla08/11/2019
Started at the Forestry car park to SW. from forest track thrashed north through thick pines to firebreak area with moss and bog and two possible HPs. Easier exit north and continued to Banc y Groes. Later visited possible HP on track to east near former reservoir / aerial but did not visit final contour east of this within forest- too much thrashing for one ( wet) day!Denise 09/02/2019
As pwheeler. Short flog up overgrown firebreak with brash and brambles. Top section much more pleasant going.Moorponder17/10/2018
Parked at SN856874, space which was being used as an overspill on a busy Su. Better than main car pk for being close to tracks which we followed to SN864871. The firebreak here was just evident, filling up with trees, undergrowth and brash. An earlier firebreak was no longer evident. A fight, in orienteering terms, but a short one mercifully, to the high point which we're relieved is the one depicted. Good view of Plynlimon. Started to rain. A pure bag. With brother, Pete.pwheeler30/04/2017

Parked at start of track (SN856874). Track NE to edge of forest, up grassy field to summit area, some thrashing about to visit the two suggested tops.Chris Peart12/07/2014
Forestry car park in Hafren Forest. uphill on road for 400 yards to a forest ride uphill to the edge of plantations. Over a locked gate and two BWFs Over rough grass to the E/W grid refce. indicating a 200 yard thrash through 10' high conifers. Reasonable approach over treacherous ground to a small rise. Virtually flat top.arranc31/08/2012
P start of track NE then S then NE. I think the summit is beside the dismantled mast.chrisbien12/03/2012
I might be biased but UPM Tilhill forests are always worse than Forestry Commission ones. This is typical.Martin R27/08/2011
As DL. Mature trees currently being felled.destaylor15/08/2011
another nightmare forestry hill. the top could be anywhere. It is best to approach from the forest track which starts west and goes north east. once out of the tress follow the new fenceline south east right to the corner. then head south west and visit thDARRENG13/06/2011
Park to west and used forest track that first travels NE before turning south. At SN8644387057 I entered forest on an easy route thro mature trees to find open summit which could be around many tree stumps on flattish summit area with young conifers nearbyDugswell226/03/2011
