Set off to do Black Hill and had to turn back on route as I had forgot my waterproof. Not enough time to complete so did Chinley Churn instead. Disappointed to get home and find out there is a new summit so will have to return one day. Great views of the The Peaks and a few Real Ales in the White Lion, Disley on the way back.W111KYB25/01/2015

Ascent from Chinley via Cracken Edge and old quarry. Had to backtrack and climb over one dry stone wall to find trig and summit. Continued on round walk to new summit 700m to NW and South Head.pwhitaker_196624/04/2014
Bagged this on an epic hike from Edale to Chinley Churn and back. Edale-Jacob's Ladder-Brown Knoll-South Head-Mount Famine-Chinley Churn-Chinley Churn Trig point-Edale Cross-Jacob's Ladder-Edale. It took me approx. 7 1/2 hours. Beautiful, sunny and warm day. In order to access the trig point one has to jump over 2-3 fences and stone walls. I found that a bit disappointing.dromeas09/03/2014

This was the last hill on a hill bagging exercise from Hayfield using the Pennine bridleway. From South head i took the path that drops down to the A6015 and took the footpath that profiles around Hills farm and then I took the permissive footpath to enable me to walk all the way across Chinley Churn. I stayed on the footpath that stays high looking over the quarries and then walked to the boundary fence, climbed one wall, went through gate and climbed straight up. LoVeLY views. Weather was divine today! Climbed back over and then ran the path to the minor road and then to station. I came across some gorgeous ponies on the way down.Dazingdale10/11/2013

3-Hump day trip from Cambridge by rail: Chinley stn - Chinley Churn - Mount Famine - South Head - Eccles Pike - Whaley Moor - Sponds Hill - Whaley Bridge. Need to climb the wall from the access land to get to the trig point. Good view!Mark Jackson22/02/2013
If accessing from the Chinley Road there are 2 walls to negotiate. I cheated and came back from the summit down the farm track which takes you straight back down to the road across much easier ground.moorsman30/01/2013
I parked to South then sort of followed the footpath up, pillar good condition amazing views.griefmiester10/09/2012
