Circular walk from/to Black Rocks Car Park. Steep ascent up past Black Rocks to the summit 'plateaux' and trig. Descent to Sheep Pasture Top then along the High Peak Trail. Trees obscure some of the views from the top. Mast present. Enjoyable walk with Katie and Emily.praenterprise14/11/2021
Walk up with Izzy in the gloaming from the car park which seemed to have some sort of adult event taking place. Actual summit if it is the West side of fence must be hidden in bushes. Time taken 34 minutes for 1.5 miles. Saw a few Bats and some Cows In the twilight that scared Izzy senseless.isabelle01/08/2021

From Black Rocks CP on High Peak Trail. FP up passing to right of the Black Rocks. Multiple paths through woods. Path through ancient quarry and crags leads up to edge via gate. Head on level path to summit. Return along same path but continue on beyond gate. Down through woods again to top of black rocks and hairy photo opp. On down past alien face rock. Ssssh don’t wake the monster. One of the most pleasant bags. Shady woodland incredibly welcome on the 30+ degC day. With Tiarnan.Pete West31/07/2020

Parked in layby at 290 556, left along the old railway then right up through the lead mine workings and keep going up and right along the ridge.clivevilla04/11/2018
Parked in small layby next to cemetery at SK29013 55616 - Along bridleway (former rail line) to fingerpost & took path signposted Cromford Moor - Up path past old lead mine to trig point & then 20m further on climbed fence to moss covered rock which lies under a clump of brambles about 1m from fence. (S)gerrybowes17/08/2018
Here for the trigpoint. TP:UK log: Parked by cemetery. Followed path up and took a wee detour to the rocks where some children were rock climbing, round the old quarry. Pillar sits on a roughly circular rough stone plinth, great wee trig to start the day.thejackrustles06/07/2018
A 2nd visit on a 5 hr walk up from Cromford with L and newly retired Viv and her curly haired cockapoo. Continued to visit once again the National Stone Centre, and its dry stone wall collection, then up the steep incline to visit the old Midleton Top station ( getting unexpected horse racing tips from a local on the way) The Cromford and High Peak railway which skits below Black Rocks is an engineering marvel from 1831 crossing the high Pennines to link the canals either side. Stationary steam engines hauled the trucks up steep inclines.Chris Pearson14/06/2018
Looped around to the summit via the high peak junction, finishing at the trig point, on a freezing dayJoel45129/04/2018
Ascent (and parking) as moorsman. We then followed blue route E over moorland (cleared plantation) to forest road shown on OS map at about SK299556, followed it to bw, then fp, to Intake Lane and Sheep Pasture Incline (now part of the High Peak Trail), which we walked up to return to Black Rock. A 2.5 h walk full of interest, that could easily be extended to include more of the fascinating industrial archaeology in good countryside. With brother, Pete. On fine afternoon after wet, misty morning.pwheeler16/03/2018
If there are any spaces in the layby as you turn into the car park to the NW use these rather than pay for parking (alt 218m). Pass behind the refreshment building and look for a path leading uphill to the right. This leads to the summit trig (the summit itself is over the fence 20m furthjer south). 1.93km return.30 mins. 171m ascent.moorsman10/03/2018
Solo. I parked up the road to avoid car park charge at Black Rocks cp.Dangerous Dave05/03/2018
Parked in large layby by cemetery - parking charges in the CP. Small confusion on entering the old quarry - the path runs up through it so no need to find away around it, like I did... Trig pillar with a number of adornments at the top.jonglew24/01/2018

Parked at Black Rocks car park SK 29078 55659. Nice walk through woods to summit.David Evans14/04/2017
Thought I ought to revist to have a look at (and touch) the mossy boulder as I'd only noted the trig from previous visits. The mossy boulder is definitely higher than the ground around the trig. Gorgeous morning the sun shining through misty cloud and a dusting of icy snow. A quick dash up from Black Rock car park before the 09:00 pay and display start time.RichardM29/01/2017
From Black Rocks car park then used the blue trail.garyhoney31/12/2016
