From parking to W, en route to Castle Hill. Not really sure why I climbed this sub-tump. Cunning plan using aerial photo allowed access to correct tractor tyre lane which went over the summit.Minto01/07/2023

From Falmer Road car park under glorious blue skies-Newmarket Hill and Castle Hill, then back and on to Bullock Hill.catman18/11/2022

A wet and windy circuit of Hollingbury Castle and Newmarket Hill. A worthy Clem.PhilipChaston08/01/2022
Parked at car park off B2123. Bullock Hill, Castle Hill, Newmarket Hill (followed tractor tracks from the radio mast). A nice round with good views.PGCE23/11/2020
On the return from Castle Hill. No sign of the BM at the radio mast. Useful tractor lines through the corn to the top.DanMaisieBex15/07/2020
Indistinct point in stubble field, with extensive views under blue skies. Felt lucky that crop had been harvested.Denise 30/08/2019
Easy access from un-fenced Drove Avenue on NW side of summit. Crop harvested leaving straw stubble. Levelish summit, good views.RichardM30/08/2019
Lewes to Brighton walk. Past mast and carefully across sowed field to summit. There may be vehicle paths through the field if crops present so worth walking along fence line before starting out towards the high point.jedthehumanoid10/04/2019
Solo. like Wheelsy suggests, follow by-way called Drove Avenue and about 100m short of mobile station cut up to the top. Chilly today with fair views over to Chanctonbury Ring.Pete West30/10/2018
Track to S of hill was lined with sturdy BWF, but one to NW had no fence whatsoever. Followed this along until in line with highest point and then headed straight up. Highest point seemed to be at either end of the ring contour, with a very slight dip in the middle.Wheelsy08/07/2018
From road CP at Woodingdean business park, ploughed fieldnordicstar11/05/2018
Walked up from Brighton station on a warm sunny day.Richard05/05/2018

With K. End of last year's crop in summer field; followed tractor tracks. Footprints showed sheep had been grazing in field.Ashley08/03/2018
Crop at ankle height and no tractor tracks so requires care to tread between plants.ijpowell27/10/2017
With: solo; Short walk up from Falmer Road CP. Went up track to transmitter then back along top of field which had already been harvested and reseeded.Ian Baines10/09/2017
Moulsecoomb to Newhaven via Hollingbury Castle, Newmarket Hill and Rushy Hill. Within wheat field - tricky access when wheat standing (i.e. today).Mark Jackson11/08/2017
Easiest way to top in arable field was to walk ca. 140 m SE along fence from comms tower at 197m, with about 4m descent, this gave me a tractor track perpendicular to the fence so no crops trampled. This done, I had a lovely walk on a seaside breezy day to the SDW at Juggs Road- interesting to have 4 Ma close, in the very good view. Back via Swanborough Hill and the grassy trackround Standean Bottom. From the car pk at Norton Drive, as most others.pwheeler20/05/2017
A short walk up from the car park on the Falmer Road beyond the transmitter and then back along the top of the hill and down to the field track towards Bullock Hill. I am glad it was post Harvest.Sixtyplus20/09/2016

The ridge is very flat so take your pick as to where the exact summit is.JohnStoneham24/10/2012
From the car park to the sw. Top could be anywhere on the ridge so it is up to one's own conscience how much you trudge about in the crop.clivevilla17/02/2012
A short stroll up from west. Summit still covered in scrubby plants Martin trod on in August.chriswatson21/10/2011
Would have felt guilty about traipsing through recently ploughed field if not feeling irritated by yet another height barrier on carpark. The other hills around looked more interesting.Martin R21/08/2011
Followed tramlines through waist high barley crop after visiting nearby Bullock Hill.Herbert Anchovy29/06/2009
Arable field.destaylor05/12/2008
Newmarket Hill was this year at least an arable field. So instead of going straight for the top from Bullock Hill I went back to CP and used North track to minimise distance in field, although walked more in field as top uncertain.garyhoney21/11/2008
