Not too bad to reach! Best to descend from path behind beacon just 20 feet N of reservoir. In Feb no nettles and just a few brambles to outwit/ bash, to easily crossed fence / wall corner. Area strewn with empty lighter fuel cans - used by solvent sniffers to get their version of high - sadly potentially fatal when inhaled as the butane in lighter fuel displaces oxygen in the lungs, leading to oxygen deprivation. It can also affect the heart leading to cardiac arrest. Grim. The park's management plan aims to tackle anti-social behaviour by design planning out areas attracting this; but I guess there will always be brambly thickets to hide way in.Chris Pearson26/02/2024
From Beacon Lane along the path to the high ground by the tower, and on to the northern part of the hill (the better end, with expansive views)Mariana Trench19/08/2023
No idea why this is even on the map, but it's another I've done hundreds of times.Stuzinho22/07/2023
From Beacon Lane, along track past tower & then decent path to covered reservoir. Unfortunately, the descent through brambles looked impenetrable so drove round to cemetery on Dovedale Road (entrance at SO 92613 94568) - Parked in cemetery & up to top of cemetery driveway at SO 9235 9448 - S. on obvious path into woodland; when path ended, continued heading S. through trees to fence railings & then, using secateurs, some pruning up to boundary high point by fence corner.gerrybowes02/07/2023
Descended from Sedgley Beacon. Knew I was close when I saw Wheelsy's empty cans of lighter gas. A very urban hill.Wycombe Wanderer06/01/2023
Have to agree with Dangerous Dave. Would be terrible in high summer.Minto28/05/2022
As part of my all the British mainland beacons challengeM3WDD04/01/2022
Easy access to covered reservoir then fight with vegetation down to the high point.Bramley17/12/2021
From top of Beacon Lane, fight through nettles round back of beacon.CreakingHiker09/06/2021
Avoided any inadvertent tumping on the Beacon. Best done outside the nettle season!tim74709/06/2021

High point on the covered reservoir is surprisingly nice enough- surely the summit would have been a better place to have the boundary. Awful descent through the brambles and nettles to the boundary hp. Solo.Dangerous Dave07/07/2020
Parked to the NW on Farrington Road. Followed RoW up onto hill then SE past the Reservoir to the masts. Room to squeeze past the second mast onto covered Reservoir strewn with larger cans, Haribo packets and empty cans of lighter fuel. Down from here through brambles to gap in metal fence which presumably marks the UA boundary. Definitely one for winter, an old pair of trousers and a walking pole to help bash brambles.Wheelsy26/01/2020
Walked here from Coseley station prior to watching Spurs win away at Wolves. Up Beacon Lane to the natural top (which has very good views), then through the hole in the fence and hacking through the brambles to reach the actual boundary. Less devoted baggers could just claim the high point...Richard15/12/2019
As others. Parked in Beacon Lane. From top of reservoir, followed a baggers' trail down through brambles to fence corner.PGCE13/10/2019
On own. Parked on Monument Lane. Walked up Beacon Lane past tower and through hole in fence to top of litter strewn covered reservoir then difficult short descent through brambles to boundary fence. On return luck was in as telecoms engineer was on site within compound so able to access compound. Down steps and to fence corner on compound side. Again thick brambles prevalent at rear of building around the fence. Seems odd descending to a summit!!Beeliner02/10/2019
Easy access until the final thrash through vegetation to fence.Alan Caine28/09/2019
Parked on Beacon lane and walked around the complex, gained access to the reservoir but no access is possible to railings as brambles are impassable, even if you come up from the cemetery, and does not look like the bramble situation will change any time soon. Interesting Rapunzel tower near summit though would have been nice if this was the top!WAYNE ROWLETT08/09/2019
Parked to the East by the shops SO926944, although could have parked much nearer.David Evans01/08/2019
Old covered reservoir, looks very disused, access easy via open gates, very overgrown. Had a hunt for the trig bolt but drew a blank at that. Who knows where the highest natural ground is, quite probably on the path that runs along the W side of the resr.jonglew28/03/2019
7th top on a very hot day, having climbed Netherton hill, Warley Park, Turner's Hill, Cawney Hill, Dudley Castle and Wren's Nest, i continued over Mons hill then Nw through the urban areas of Bramford, The Coppice and Hurst hill to the track past the compound. Climbed over gate and fought my way from the rear to the corner incurring more scrathes to top up my daily total, exited by squeezing through gap. Two youths had juat climbed the transmission tower to fly the St. George flag in honour of 'England'. Continued Nnw passing the tump summit, then skirted limestone quarry via undergrowth to descrnd Nw onto main road then took a nice fp through Park hill to arrive at my airbnb in Goldthorn hill..Dazingdale30/06/2018
Parked at E end of Springfield Grove by allotment gardens. Tracks lead up to Beacon Hill Tower, with gap leading onto reservoir top. County Top is down below in the jungle; why wasn't it at the high ground near the Tower?Aye Jimmy17/02/2018
A day trip down to Birmingham to collect a speaker cabinet...and 15 new hills completed on the journey :) All done by the simplest methods already given by othersthe_adam27/01/2018
From Monument Lane and through hole in fence past monument. Great viewpoint.Campbell Singer12/11/2017
From junction of Monument and Beacon Lane.Barbara Singer12/11/2017
3/3 Small county top hunt around Birmingham after playing with brass band at Walsall Arboretum for Rotary Fun Run. Asked some fit and healthy excercising locals for guidance on getting to this one as my phone had died. I actually liked this area, with it's seemingly out of place little gates and odd tower. Found gap in fence to climb on top of Reservoir, with strange graffitied rusty bell things. Stood on various potential high points atop the reservoir.tumpawumpa24/09/2017
As mart0797. Nice views from the reservoir top.Herbert Anchovy04/04/2017
From Monument road through gap just after stone tower compound onto reservoir top before forcing a way down through brambles to the boundary.mart079727/12/2016
As others, from South past tower and through hole in fence, then short descent to boundary. Also visited the top of reservoir.PeterD23/10/2016
From estate, as others found hole in fence onto reservoir.rhalstead14/08/2016
My last geocache find of the day was up here.Alancache02/06/2016
A bit of a grim place. Wandered around the potential high point. Solo. Parked in Monument Lane.bolton25/05/2016
High point is former reservoir top accessed by hole in fence.Ramblingpaul23/05/2016
This ones going to be memorable for me for the wrong reason. Was just arriving on the top when I learnt that pop icon Prince had died. The views are pretty reasonable. But lots of undergrowth (overgrowth) and rubbish... what a shame.stig_nest21/04/2016
Hill 4. Parked in Springfield Rd by the footpath entrance alongside of allotments. Walked straight up to Beacon Hill Tower. Went through the undergrowth to the left of the tower and then behind over a squashed down mesh fence onto a flat bed where the water tank once stood. That must be the highest point.Viroco21/02/2016
A triple CoU with Minnie. Cawney Hill-hard work & dissapointing, lots of brabmles. Sedgley Beacon, CoU dissapointing but the Beacon is a nice raised area for a walk & intersting little tower. Turners Hill nice walk up from canal through golf course, great views of the conurbation. loveley dry cold frosty morning.apricorum20/01/2016
Up Beacon Lane as others.ngthack29/11/2015
4/5 Nice tower at top just beside the communications towerFergalh24/04/2015
On another bagging spree! 4th top of 7 today.mcallmar10/04/2015
RoW past S side of mast and old resr then muddy brambly trail N and E round N side of mast compound. Boundary on OpenStreetMap on GPS coincided with NE corner of mast compound; boundary of muddy horse paddock a few m uphill to N looked a bit more likely; also small hawthorn copse may be an old boundary feature. Not scenic, but interesting in its way. Odd the old tower should be fence d off so securely. Should be an OS trig bolt on the old resr: omitted to look for it.RHW07/02/2015
Short walk from Monument Lane. Nice Monument.electricratman19/10/2014
Parked on Monument Lane and walked up Beacon Lane to look at Sedgley Beacon. Very hot and clear views right across the West Midlands and beyondandyhudson18/05/2014
Easy parking in Monument Road (Beacon Lane a bit narrow) to south. Easy access with brambles being only problem getting to boundary at metal railings. Interesting stone tower at top (1846) site of former beacon. Excellent views. Lots of litter.Hillsidenick17/12/2013
climbed with dave on the way to athlethicsmr bounce29/06/2013
Interesting tower inside compound.Newton Maximus28/06/2013
Seems like a lot of drinking goes on here judging by the number of cans and bottles left behind.clivevilla29/04/2013
parked on Beacon Lane. Brambles all over. broken railings at 92304 94440.arranc17/04/2013
Sedgley Beacon was the last of several county tops I had visited today, it was after dark by the time I got there but the views over Birmingham were amazing, especially as it is just a day after firework night.magirob06/11/2012
Scruffy tat hill threesimon and co25/02/2012
Gate unlocked and in in bad repair. Descended down - lots of remains of brambles. Could be tricky in the bramble months.destaylor13/01/2012
