Summit is a long way from the path, you would not go over it by default on a walk between Meall Buidhe and Luinne Bheinn. Unexpected promotion.alda21/06/2018

Camping with friends about the 350m level on the Barrisdale – Mam Barrisdale path. Circuit of Luinne Bheinn and Meall Buidhe. From Luinne Bheinn East Top I took the path heading towards Meall Buidhe. I deviated slightly off the path to reach the summit of a top of about 800m*. The path then goes over the slopes of Druim Leac a' Shith (839m), avoiding the summit. I went to the summit. This is a Corbett Top. I rejoined the path, going to Bealach a Coire and continuing up towards the South-east top of Meall Buidhe. I contoured round above large rock slabs to join the ridge to get to Sgurr Sgeithe. * Subsequently determined that this is Meall Coire na Gaoithe'n Ear as listed in DBIH.pwbellarby01/06/2008

With Davy Bell from Inverie. Stayed in Inverie House which offered B&B at the time & use of the billiards table: unfortunately the only cue available was the half butt which made for interesting bridging! Along Gleann Meadail to just short of bealach then N following burn up slope. On to SE top of Meall Buidhe & then a misty summit. Back to top & NE to bealach, traversed Meall Coire na Gaoithe'n Ear & ascended Luinne Bheinn & its top. Worked way down to Mam Barrisdale which was easier than it looked & followed path/track back to Inverie. Walked along road to the Old Forge that evening when a local in an ancient car drew up & mumbled something unintelligble (apart from the swearing). Turned out he was offering a lift to the pub although it seemed that he was well on his way already...NotReallyABagger10/07/1999

Cairngorm Club meet. With John Hetherington. From Barrisdale Bothy we went to Màm Barrisdale (2 men dropped from a helicopter there). We went a short distance down the path on the other side, then ~south and up a stream to the ridge of Creag Dhearg and hence to Meall Buidhe. We continued over the south east top, Druim Leac a’ Shith, and then via the south east ridge of Luinne Bheinn to the south east top and the main summit. Descended via Bachd Mhic an Tosaich to Màm Barrisdale, where John descended to Barrisdale. I continued to Stob a’ Chearcail, point 848m, Ladhar Bheinn, and Stob a’ Choire Odhar before descending to Barrisdale Bothy. Mist on all the tops except Druim Leac a’ Shith.pwbellarby11/07/1981
