Climbed quickly from Wester Quarff in windy but clear conditions which were better than the forecast suggested.Kiltie08/09/2022
Seemed like a long walk out over peaty ground from Sheens of Breitoe. Stayed further S on the way back passing a brick ruin marked on the map. Dry condition of the peat was helpful.LizH29/08/2021
A swampy cold wet feet long 2km drag up with L on our 2hr 10min - 12 Km hill run. From Easterhoul to N over Wester Quarff Hill first. L loving it despite sodden feet (She must have had thicker socks on than me). Boggy hags reminiscent of the Pennines but NOT the VIEWS - which are what Shetland does rather well -especially in the low winter sunlight. Visible - anchored just a few feeble miles off-shore to the east - was the oil tanker PetroAtlantic -which shuttles oil away from the Foinaven oil field 120 miles west of Shetland. It last filled up on Xmas Eve. As reported in the Shetland News recently it has become an environmental worry that laden oil tankers such as this are 'sitting around' this sheltered sea area - sometime for months -awaiting orders as to where to take their oil. It's feared that should there be a disaster with a leak of oil the precious Shetland coastline and superlative Noss bird cliffs are in the firing line.(This one is still there 6 days later -marinetraffic)Chris Pearson27/12/2020
Good views.Adrian19/06/2019
From road end at bottom of N ridge. Space for a couple of cars. It's best to go straight up the field behind the parking area. A pleasant grassy ascent which only gets haggy towards the top.Chris Peart09/06/2019
From loop in old road, by disused quarry, on A970 due E. Sheens of Breitoe first. Lot of peat hags.jonglew07/06/2019
