9th top of 10 on a 21km traverse from Pant-glas to Carmel, easy descent from Bryn Gwyn then steeply meandering to gain best route, over fence and then back to gain summit where I stopped for another drink and snacks. Superb hill and aspect. Scrambled down N then Nnw to gain path heading for Mynydd Mawr...Dazingdale29/09/2023
Mynydd Mawr and Clogwyngareg from Rhyd Ddu.alunrees4017/04/2023
Went up East, ended up at the same place as before but had someone behind me to feel safer when scrabling, it's ot hard just looks high up. Very satisfying!Skarletk14/05/2022
Came down from Mynydd Mawr and crossed the stream on ruined bridge. Steep walk up and a brief scramble to gain the summit. Descended by steep track north by wall corner. Solo.Dangerous Dave23/04/2022
Tried going up the South, the wall nearly fell down. Tried the West, got most of the way but it was a bit risky to scamble alone. It got too late as I wanted to do Mynydd Mawr but I nearly got blowm off 60mph winds. Next I'm going to try the East rout.Skarletk13/03/2022
Surprised to discover a short scramble required to reach the top coming up from the eastSwindon Bagger20/09/2021

Entertaining circuit of Clogwynygarreg and Bryn Gwyn from the fishing lake to round off a good day. Round lake clockwise, then up NE slope with a short hands-on section at the top. Down SW slope, and onto Bryn Gwyn.PGCE13/11/2020
A steep craggy hill. Did on way down from Mynydd Mawr using the disused dam. Went down very steeply to south to get to Bryn Gwyn.Alan Moore21/07/2020

Route: Rhyd Ddu – Llwyn-y-forwyn – Clogwynygarreg – B4418 – Rhyd Ddu. Stats: 1hr30, 5.17km, 226m ascent. Weather: wet & wind. Notes: late afternoon walk; abandoned summit attempt due to very steep slope of wet rock/grass with hidden cliffs (felt unsafe) & also fading daylight.millionmts31/10/2019

From Rhudd Ddu. Mynydd Mawr, Moel Tryfan and Clogwyngareg. wet and very windy!!Alunrees3327/09/2017
Deceptively difficult little hill. Climbed from campsite owned by the Cwellyn Arms by Llyn Cwellyn. Access from the NE was prevented by deep bog, so I crossed at a disused dam to the north and made my way up by very steep heathery ledges to the N. Ascent from the E or S looked barred by crags.Wheelsy23/08/2017
On way up Mynydd MawrFergalh30/07/2017
From Rhyd-DDu,on my own, cool but sunny.alwaysinshorts21/04/2017
Overcast, calm, 9 degrees. Nice little climb from car park by Llyn. Bigger than it looks. On to Bryn Gwyn.Wycombe Wanderer06/04/2017
With Bryn Gwyn. Very steep sided little hill, ascent easy, descent not quite soJamesD197218/01/2017
On way down from Mynydd Mawr with Matt H. Had the misfortune to meet a shepherd in the field to the N who told us that the 'bridge' at SH556539 was on private land but that we could go round by the NE flank of the hill. The flat area on the map turned out to be a thigh-deep bog. Then a very steep climb up boulders and steep grass to a good summit.Mark Jackson23/08/2016
From Bryn Gwyn up the rubble heap. Two enjoyable hills to start the day.Herbert Anchovy03/06/2016
This little rocky hill ifs a step zig zag scramble up the south side and well defended by a small rock band near the summit on west north and eastvegibagger30/04/2016
From car park at 559533, round lake to west and up grassy hillside to fern area. Follow path through bracken to top. Scramble up rocky crag to HP. Nice hill.arranc04/09/2015
CUHWC Rhyd Ddu Trip. A gentle Saturday walk with ALF. Ascent from Rhyd Ddu, through forest, beside fence to Mynydd Mawr. Cloudy and showers, but improved later in the day. Returned over the two smaller peaks to the east.AGWilliamson09/05/2015

On own. Parked at Llyn y Dywarchen then up and over Bryn Gwyn and Clogwyngarreg (a cracking precipitous little mound) before heading for Mynydd Mawr. Hellish windy on the top of Mynydd Mawr. Same way back circling west of the two tumps.Crib Goch15/10/2014
On the return from Mynydd Mawr to the Rhudd Ddu car park. Very windyHillboBaggings29/04/2013
Ascended from Rhydd Ddu station on way back to Bontnewydd via Mynydd Mawr. Easy climb from west end of Llyn Dywarchen which avoids the serious barbed wire along the road from Rhydd Ddu.chriswatson06/04/2013
