Luckily there are more tracks than mapped but summit area still looked horrible with brash and new saplings. However wasn’t too bad in actual HP area with mature pines/ larch, albeit with brambly bracken-y understorey. HP indistinct on levelish ridge. Sun setting on snowy day. | Denise | 19/01/2023 |
From road to E on mainly unmapped forest tracks to just below E side of summit. Grass and brash reach a pair of ridges which appear much the same height. All a bit unsatisfactory. | RichardM | 19/01/2023 |
As others, easy parking to NE in wide entrance to forest - A steady climb up forest track to high point at SN 6134 9886, turned right & ESE along track/firebreak: trees on N. side felled so good view across valley to Corlan Ffraith. Needed to cross a bit of brash & bramble to reach the high point which lies in a stand of remaining trees. | gerrybowes | 02/06/2022 |
From the N. Tracked loops round to S before going up; eventually passes close to top. Walked along the ridge in case the specified highpoint gets moved! | PGCE | 10/02/2021 |
Up the forest track, then cut off steeply through mixed woodland area to felled section higher up. Fairly easy through the brashy area to ridge of highest ground. Still quite vegetated there. And they have replanted felled area with tiny conifers. Took much more direct route down. With Bryher and Rick. | jenx | 13/03/2020 |
As others, followed forestry track from north round the hill to the highest point of the track, next to a rock cutting. From there, the route is very different as it has been bulldozed and the forest on the slopes below (but above the main track) felled. This made walking to, and ascertaining the HP very easy but we were very glad we were there at a weekend. With Pete | pwheeler | 15/09/2018 |
Parked in wide opening to the track from the north. over locked gates and followed Campbell Singer's directions. Grassy ride no longer concealed and leads upwards before suddenly disappearing. You have to carry on a few steps through brambles then turn to your right and briefly down into a wodded bit and back up the other side to summit. No problems. | clivevilla | 26/01/2018 |
With K. Spiralled up on foresty tracks in rain feasting on early blackberries. Summit difficult. Attempted some shortcuts; strongly recommend the virtues of following the track. | Ashley | 28/07/2017 |

Sorry - detailed log not accepted | carole engel | 11/06/2017 |
Unpleasant combination of brambles and high bracken. Steep ascent/descent due west/east from the track avoids the worst of this in return for a so-so route through mature forestry. | mae | 28/09/2015 |
Followed forestry track from north round the hill to the highest point of the track, next to a rock cutting. Hidden behind a tree is a grassy ride through the dense forest practically to the summit. Its start point is just before some large cut logs. I missed it and suffered a nightmare through the dark dense forest until I finally stumbled into the clear 100 m from the summit. Took me 25 minutes through the forest but only 5 minutes back to the track! | Campbell Singer | 05/07/2015 |
As arranc - met forester on track but no problems with access. | Chris Peart | 23/10/2014 |
Bit of a disappointment for a HuMP this one. | Alex C | 19/09/2014 |
park at wide entrance to forest road at 618991. ignore keep out signs. over locked double gate and follow road around to a high point at 613986, then east on faint grass path into tall fir trees. | arranc | 30/08/2013 |
Track good. Summit bad - particularly if wet. Brambles heather etc. | destaylor | 08/10/2012 |
Came all around the forest tracks in a big circle until you come to an end. Then follwed the wall/small grass path ENE for a hundred metres then turned NNW for another hundred metres. Then turned WSW into the forest to gain the very overgrown top at GR-SN 61647 98603.With andrew brown. After reading other notes my satmap was bang on the 196m spot height, but lots of trees were obscuring the sky? | DARRENG | 26/08/2012 |
Not an easy one this. As far as I could determine the summit is a heavily vegetated small knoll at SN 61628 98769 (very close to the 196m spot height on 25k map) GR quoted by DARRENG is 170m S of this point? | David Gradwell | 19/08/2012 |
Parking for 2 cars at start of forest road at SN61811 99052. Took forest road (not RoW) around hill to its highest point at SN61349 98856. Then took overgrown track E into forest which brought me to 100m of summit 'ridge'. Then bracken thrash to top. Heavy going in summer! | Man of Kernow1 | 01/07/2012 |
summit tree free, +/- no view, not unpleasant ascent/descent, v pleasant area. park @ 618990, pick a way up steep felled slope & spruce, not diff, to top, down via field adj | RHW | 12/05/2002 |
