Park on the verge before the farm entrance. 47363 46797. Follow the farm road to the farm ,ask the farmer permission as this is not a right of way. Nice fellow and his wife. Gave directions through the farm to the field. Follow the track up to the mast, return the same way. | smocks and denims | 14/09/2023 |
Knocked on the farm door too. He was indeed friendly although he was a little more reticent as he has had several thefts and was waiting for the Police to arrive. Still, he kindly let me go up and described the route through the farmyard. | clivevilla | 16/04/2023 |
Parked at the road junction due south of Barrock End Farm. Walked up the farm access road to where it turns into the farmyard. Knocked on the door of the farmhouse to be greeted by an exceptionally friendly gentleman who thanked me for asking first and then came out and pointed out the best way up. Even told me that all the cows were friendly ... in fact they ignored me. Definately best to ask permission as the route enters a farm building. Cut back through the newish looking house SW of the farm. | moorsman | 04/08/2022 |
Cut mark on gatepost spotted on entering the field. Then up to wall where there is a handy couple of protruding stones which act as a stile to aid progress over wall to bag trig & Tump summit. | Dugswell2 | 27/01/2022 |
Up from the road at the south along the fenceline of the field to the SE and through gate to the field with the masts in and up to the trig. Pleasant views back to other hills done today and snow on the tops but not here. 15 minutes all round. | nickywood1 | 04/01/2022 |

First really decent hill since The Knowe at Workington this morning. Not that I didn't enjoy pootling round west Cumbria but this is a proper hill. | Wycombe Wanderer | 21/04/2019 |

All sorts of 'anti' notices at lane to quarry to W so used Nordicstar's direct approach. Highlight wasn't the summit but the remarkable metal stile with mechanical dog-flap at top of wood - Martin R's 'gizmo'. | Aye Jimmy | 25/10/2015 |

The kind of fool like me who believes that maybe the Tamperers will get their hands on it! Pleasant. | destaylor | 27/04/2014 |

Start as Chrisbien and Nordicstar. Plenty of space in passing place so no need to block it. | Minto | 18/01/2014 |

From parking spot at NY466469. Line of fence then wall. Suprisingly steep at top through wood/undergrowth. Suddenly on top and trig. High point nearby. Back down mast track through farm and road, short distance back to car. | nordicstar | 06/07/2012 |

What kind of fool collects sub-HuMPs - especially when there are gale force winds? Not me - I was just looking for interesting stile near summit with gizmo for letting dogs through.Started at NY46248 47280 with a choice of paths. | Martin R | 04/01/2012 |

Up fields from lane along forest edge keeping a wary eye out for farmer. Was on my copy of a hand written list of Clems in the neat handwriting of Clem himself (E.D Clements) - 2005 was way before Tumps had been 'invented' | Chris Pearson | 21/04/2005 |
