After Little Whernside and Dead Mans Hill. A lengthy heather bash with peat gullies also slowing me down. As there was a more direct straight line to the track descending I decided it could not really be worse than the way drom DMH. It was no worse but no better other than being a little shorter. It was still a tough mile. Total trip 9.71 miles, 4h 09.clivevilla19/03/2024
from reservoir cp, through quarry and track to end, up line of grouse buts almost to top, 100 meters heather to unmarked summit. Back same wayFlatfield07/01/2024
After Dead Man's Hill. Marginally more interesting, but more slog through heather. But at least has some views! Beware - all of the public footpaths and bridleways on the OS map between this summit and the farm track a looong way down the valley into Nidderdale are complete myths. If you trudge over Dead Man's Hill and Great Haw thinking 'at least there's a path just below the summit' prepare to be VERY disappointed!MrChris198014/06/2023
From the Scar House Resr parking area, up to revisit Little Whernside first for the trig buried block, then along a boggy ridge to DeadMan's Hill and then continued on to here. Who knows where the high point is, like Dead Man's it's all flat and wet moorland, and seems flatter and is wetter with the cloud down and pelting with rain... a bit bleak. Anyway, the trig buried block was bagged, the purpose of t exercise. Picked up the mapped estate track on the return for a 14.6km round of wetness!jonglew01/03/2023

From car park at reservoir (access via water works road running up west side of R Nidd) Little Whernside, Dead Man's Hill, Great Haw, right of way just east of summit does not exist. Neither does the rectangular path to the south. Arduous rough heather descent. Might be worth checking out tracks to Haugh Crags south of summit to see if they exist, car park, Woodale Moss.ijpowell03/09/2015

Rough trudge across moor from Dead Man's Hill past two small tarns. Nothing much to pinpoint summit, just heather. There's a boundary stone but not at summit. Previously done 07/02/1993. Continued to Little South Haw.Aye Jimmy11/03/2012
