Another torturous final ascent - no real path, lots of bracken and heather. Wouldn't want to come up here if it was wet.benarbia_801/07/2018
Warm and sunny walk after parking before Stonethwaite's Saint Andrews Church. RoW to Dock Tarn then off piste to Great Crag (Stonethwaite). Then track followed south and then west to Knotts. Then SE to wall then up to path for return to car.Dugswell220/04/2018

From Stonethwaite after Great CragCrib Goch22/11/2015
Easy parking halfway to Stonethwaite from main road. Over bridge at Stonethwaite, SE along track then paved path uphill through wood to emerge by small ruin. Along path to sharp bend, shallow valley on left to Knotts. Colourful summit rock!Aye Jimmy27/08/2015
Stonethwaite > Knotts > Great Crag (Stonethwaite) > Grange Fell [Brund Fell] > King's How - Grange Fell > Eelstep Brow > B5289 to Rosthwaite > Annerdale Ramble > Castle Crag > Annerdale ramble > Rosthwaite > B5289 then to StonethwaiteTony Hartry27/06/2015
A vague path leads through the heather after diverting from the Great Crag track. Miss this and it becomes a plod. Easier to find on descent (which doesn't help you at all). Parked at Watendlath (alt 862ft)moorsman06/03/2015
Trackless and protected by deep heather. The top is on the northern end despite a little cairn on the southern end.peebs09/10/2013
W MT et al with Grange Fell. a missing Birkett this one.nordicstar12/01/2013
With Jo, circular walk from Rosthwaite: Willygrass Gill, High Crag, Knotts, Great Crag, Dock Tarn, returning via Puddingstone Bank. Weather; generally overcast with occasional sunny intervals, good visibility.amblerbob23/04/2012
From Great Crag. Descent down the path at the side of Willygrass Gill was absolute murder on the knees.Wheelsy12/04/2012
Stonethwaite - Eagle Crag - Sergeant's Crag - High Raise - Ullscarf - Great Crag - Stonethwaite; a reasonable if rarely-attempted circuit. Added Knotts after Great Crag, with Mum waiting by the tarn I legged it and almost broke my neck in the tangle of heather and crags. Knotts was nice thoughMark Jackson14/04/2009
Solo. Also bagged White Crag (380m).Dangerous Dave13/04/2009
