The obvious route from Danna na Cloiche ruins, using a cleared gap between gorse. Dead bracken wasn't too much of a problem but Dugswell did remarkably well to track down the old trig in such rife vegetation | Colin Crawford | 23/10/2023 |

Parked over the causeway then ambled along the track to near Danna na Cloiche before coming back along the ridge to avoid the gorse & most of the high bracken with Jungle Jill.
Mid Danna Bolt grid reference NR 69711 78230 & Old Trig at NR 69711 78230 both searches hampered by tall bracken. | Dugswell2 | 09/06/2023 |

Usual route to summit hidden beneath thick bracken. Lots of sheep/cattle passed en route so not a dog-friendly sib. And need to be tick-proof eg t-shirt/shorts not recommended! | AndrewFinnimore | 14/06/2022 |
Followed the track past Danna Farm to the end at Danna na Cloiche settlement. Continued up the rock seam NE to the summit, which avoids the gorse, give this hill a miss in the bracken season. Returned on March 2024 and found the remnants of a cairn at the summit, a large heart-shaped rock. | DavieRuts | 12/06/2022 |
With Evan. From parking place at north end of Danna, along tracks of increasing roughness as far as Danna na Cloiche and then north-eastwards up ridge to summit. No sign of trig bolt, but possibly hidden or damaged when gorse bushes removed to make rough track to summit. Flattish outcrop peeping shyly through grass some metres north of summit. Warm and sunny. Good views, if hazy, across Sound of Jura to the Paps and across Loch Sween to hills of Knapdale. Return on outward route as far as above New Danna, then to Druim Chlachan. | mainnirnamfiadh | 18/06/2021 |
2nd top of 14. After Druim Clachan, headed SSE to eventually climb through gorse, I followed the Deer tracks up through to reach wide grassy area and summit near Birch tree growing in the middle. Returned via NNE through birch woodland then grassland, all easy-going before turning West to reach car park. Next an out and back to Druim Mor. | Dazingdale | 26/05/2021 |
Occupant at Mid Danna suggested ascent by the SSW ridge, which I did after visiting the ruined buildings at Danna na Cloiche. A wide path has been cleared now through the whin allowing easy access to the summit. I continued in the same line, then back over Druim Clachan to the track. | sclater | 07/11/2020 |
After Druim Clachan. As mentioned, all ascents except from S and E are hellish. True summit well hidden somewhere within gorse - didn't hang about as >100 flies buzzing around my head. | iangpark | 10/07/2020 |

Level brackeny rough grass amidst gorse. | RHW | 14/07/2019 |
Took a direct line from the Mid Danna farmstead, up through gorse, some faint tracks, sometimes a push through. NE-SW ridge has been cleared of gorse, path still rough but easily navigable. Walked SW along ridge to find an easier way off. Looked for the tig bolt, but not a single rock seen. | jonglew | 02/11/2018 |
Summit area dense gorse and bracken. | bjewing | 08/07/2018 |
Western approach barred by dense whinns but N ridge ok. | chalky1953 | 29/06/2018 |

The best route to the highest point on Danna (Cruaidh Bharr) is to follow the farm track southeast toward the ruined buildings at Danna na Cloiche and to approach the hill from the southern end. There’s a rough track up through the gorse, though recent clearing (watch out for hidden gorse stumps) has started to grow back, and in summer you'll be pushing through high bracken. Approaching by other routes takes you through bogs, barbed wire fences and thick gorse. Please leave all gates as you found them. | the dannach | blank |
