From Sligachan along waterlogged lochside path, crossed waterfall stream low down, up to mast then boulder near 150m, then vague paths most of way to summit cairn.willyross20/03/2024
From the Slig via mast.Lionel Bidwell30/05/2023
From Sligachan, along the river path and up to the phone mast. Followed various animal tracks and paths, if you stick to the right hand side of the ridge there are paths nearly all of the way up. Returned same way. Was very dry under foot, expect this route may not be quite so easy if it's very wet underfoot. 6.6 miles round trip, Took me about 1hr 45 to the summit.JulieB23/05/2023

With Dave Roeder. Parked at layby at NG 478317 just S of the A87 bridge (13:40). Followed the boggy track just S of the wood then up the steep slope and along the ridge to the summit (15:15). Back by same route; finished 16:40.dbb14/05/2023
From large lay-by bridge north of Sligachan. Used remains of track to power cables. Then short bash before vegetation eases with ateepening slopes. One up first pull easy going over broad ridge. Bonus sunny evening following Raasay.N.Morters19/08/2022
From the road end car park at Peinachorrain (use lower road, the top road is wrecked). Easy rising traverse across sheep pastures to stream confluence above Allt na Ba Grisionn, small patch of horrible vegetables with holes, then over fence and up a heathery rib joining Allt Garbh Mor higher up, going not too bad for a small Marilyn. Up to a grassy and stony bump, easier going, slightly down to lochans then up to the top, also easy going. This route gives superb views over Raasay, Glamaig, Marsco, the Cuillin, central Skye and north to the Storr. Note that the path to Sligachan is clear and easy and can be joined by following the stream N of the car park, not at the daft misleading signpost.Gill04/10/2021
M and O. Climbed from the A87 where it crosses the Allt Dubh. First 600m is hard going in knee deep heather and tussocky grass. Better once the slope steepens. Good ground on top. Misty.Martin6623/06/2021
From the Slig along river to new phone mast on the hillside, then over numerous false summits to summit. Brilliant warm spring day. Peace and quiet before the hoards arrive at the end of lockdown.Matt290121/03/2021

From the parking area at the end of the road at The Braes. A couple of short heather bashes but otherwise good underfoot from the car. Could be a bit gruesome in bad conditions so I suggest doing this on a clear, sunny day like I did. Great views of Raasay. Solobolton30/09/2019
From Sligachan campsite. By river then up the West bank of the Allt an t Sithean which was a mistake as it is a ravine and can only be crossed high up. Descent by the Odhar ridge but very difficult terrain further down.NormanW18/05/2019
From the bridge N of Sligachan (NG 478317). Awful deep and steep grass, with hidden knee deep hidden holes, up Meal Odhar Mor, then bits of a path via Meall Odhar Beag. On the return there were discontinuous stony patches 70m S of the forest edge which can be used to relieve the purgatory from the road to the power line. Great views of the Cuillins.Isbjorn17/01/2019
From Sligachan. Path up river and loch is wet and dilapidated, driest line is to stay close to the water. A bulldozer track just before a stream leads up to mast. Continue up south ridge, good ground all the way. At 140m a large boulder offers several interesting pitches.Topographer5725/11/2018
3 of 5: From A87 layby at Allt Dubh bridge. Back down via Meall Odhar Mor.ChrisR21/06/2018
from the layby near the bridge off A87robertphillips24/07/2017
Sunny evening after too many hours spent at the coffee shop Caora Dubh opposite the Talisker distillery in Carbost chatting to various people. Good fresh breeze so no midges.vegibagger11/07/2017
From the bridge to E - tough to start but good going on the ridge, even a faint path between the tops.Chris Peart19/10/2016
Yep, hard going, from bridge layby to east. Some sun, warm, calm, good views.iangalbraith08/05/2016
I liked our route up from the high point of the minor road to the east. Very driech weather though.jenx09/02/2016
With Jenx from road to East. A dull trudge on a dull wet day, no views just duller cloud and a lot of rain. Even the trig had moved down the North ridge in search of better weather. Still they all count.nordicstar09/02/2016
from layby at S end of forest. Once through vegetation at foot , good going. Another grand viewpointThearlaichdubh18/08/2015
From the east. Rough going for a while then OK apart from false summit syndrome.AndrewFinnimore15/04/2014
From the layby by the bridge over the Allt Dubh 2km N of Sligachan - easy going after 8 weeks without rain.jimbloomer21/06/2012
From the road end at Peinchorran. No path however fun picking a route up the series of steps to the cairned summit. Great views all round. Recommended.Martin R24/02/2012
From Sligachan camp site.BLACKHILL06/10/2011
Ascent from B883 on east side of hill with AT. Not recommended - hard-going!Man of Kernow104/06/2011
Park almost at end of Braes road by small gravel deposit. Swamp to start and 3 or 4 cross lumps not well shown on map. Horrendous section with tall heather on steep hill side for an hour. Eventually clear of heather onto undulating large coarse grass slope with stone runs to 2 false tops and to top at 16.00. Dum Caan, length of Raasay, Applecross, Scalpay, Glamaig, Marsco, Cullin, 2 Tables, Portree, Dearg, Hartaval, Storr, Tianavaig and Sound of Raasay. Fox on descent.arranc13/05/2008
From SW, on way to Capull trig.agentmancuso06/04/2007
interesting ascent from Slig, gorge en route; fine summit & view. Sligachan campsite, cross Eas Ruadh low down & +/- follow RHW13/06/2000
