The Ochils Mountaineering Club had a trip to Glen Brittle Campsite planned for last weekend, but the forecast meant most of us bailed on it. A few hardy souls went up anyway and I joined them on Wednesday. On Thursday, Karen Webber, Andy Moffat, Colin Craig and I, bagged Sgurr Mhic Coinnich (948m) a Munro. Ascending the An Stac screes from Coire Lagan (which was very unsettling). Then Karen and Colin lead the two pitches, so I could second up onto the Innaccesible Pinnacle (986m) my 190th Munro. That was some experience in the breezy conditions on an exposed shard of rock......chillyman804/05/2023

Rob and myself from memorial hut.. Perfect weather with the exception of drifting cloud on tops. Climbed path to coire. h Headed left up edge of coire, avoiding worst scree to belach as advised by Jonah. . Had lunch surveyed the last section to summit at lunch. Crows calling. Jonah did not arrive. Climbed the ridge across grade 2 scramble and airy positions at all times. Summitted alone sitting in front of shattered memorial stone. Descent relentless across ridge then to belach and a scree descent down left side. A few falls leading to summery return walk. Completed all Munro’s on Skye with this summit. . We will return because these are the mountains of great challenge, skill and drama.. The weather however prevails.david.walker4009/06/2018

2nd of 2. After lunch we descended what I'd imagine would be tricky slabs in the wet. Stashed the packs and then an easy enough walk over to Mhic Choinnich. Some scree running to follow before an easy walk out. ~12km, 1400m 8hr.bowzi19/06/2014

First walk in The Cuillins - absolutley stunning scenary - the best I have seen of anywhere in the UK. Menacing beauty! Did the walk with Rach & Gillian from Skye Guides. Weather was perfect - not a cloud in the sky and the sun was shining. The InPin was good fun and not as difficult as expected. Could be solo'd but best to abseil off. Also did Sgur Mhic and joining ridge. One of my best days in the hills. Descended the scree slopes at the back down to the Lochan which was surprisingly fun and fast to get down. Great great day!scholesy13/10/2013

my first ascent, 4 in party - 2 groups climbing, hot sunny day to start. climbed from the mem hut, path to core lagan, back of the coire and geared up and climbed Jeffery's dyke up to harts ledge, superb scenery, and a nice long climb. back along the ledge the doubled back along the ridge proper, to the nice and small summit area, great spot. returned along the ridge and descended the screes to coire lagan.rum doodle 05/07/1999

With Rhona Fraser. I had come over from Kilmarie the previous evening to join her at camp in Coir’ uisg, having passed the bad step at 10:30pm. We climbed the Dubhs. Rather than abseil off Sgùrr Dubh Beag we climbed down and round the side to continue to Sgùrr Dubh Mòr. Then to Sgùrr Dubh na da Bheinn, Sgùrr nan Eag, Sgùrr Sgumain, Sgùrr Alasdair, Sgùrr Thearlaich, Sgùrr Mhic Choinnich to Coire Lagan, where we camped.pwbellarby21/05/1994

Winter traverse of Cuillin ridge N to S. 3 days with 2 bivis on the ridge. Just got over Mhic Choinnich(very airy) and rigged an abseil up before dark down Kings Chimney, plated in ice. Committed to a bivi on the sloping snowy col - wind got up, spindrift everywhere-zipped inside our goretex bags in our sleeping bags - Martin performed heroics making a meal. A long night as my feet got colder and bladder stretched -until we could get dressed at first light-i.e. put boots and crampons back on and continue.Chris Pearson17/02/1991

Climbed An Stac and Inaccessible Pinnacle unroped. Abseiled off In Pinn. Went over all the tops of Sgurr na Banachdich and Sgurr a’ Ghreadaidh. Cairngorm Club meet. Solo. Attempt on complete ridge starting at Glen Brittle Camp Site. From Sgurr Alasdair I went on to Sgurr Thearlaich and climbed King’s Chimney to reach the summit of Sgurr Mhic Choinnich. I climbed up the face of An Stac. I missed out the Inaccessible Pinnacle (too busy). I arrived at Sgurr Dearg – Cairn at 13:00. I was too much behind schedule and too tired because of activity the previous day to hope of succeeding so went down to YH via Sron Dearg. There was some snow on the ground and a slight fall.pwbellarby05/05/1985

With Jonathan Bellarby, Geraldine Guest, and Robin Howie. From Glen Brittle. After climbing the In Pinn, we ascended to the summit of Sgurr Mhic Coinnich and then went via Collie’s Ledge to the bottom of King’s Chimney, which Robin and I climbed. So we reached the summit of Sgurr Mhic Coinnich for the second time. We used Collie’s Ledge again to rejoin the others and went on to Sgurr Thearlaich and Sgurr Alasdair.
