10am, 5 degrees, light cloud/sun, calm. Via summit of Sron na Ciche then contoured towards Coir a' Ghrunnda and probably didn't take the easiest way to the summit. Couldn't see a cairn so climbed to the other possible top, which was a bit hairy getting off. Whilst checking the map to make sure I was on the right hill, someone else arrived so I asked him. He said he was 'doing the south end of the ridge.' It soon became apparent that he thought he was on Casteil a' Garbh-coire. I then discovered some rocks that undoubtedly were once the summit cairn and told him we were definitely on Sgurr Sgumain and that he should definitely not consider taking the ridge to Sgurr Alasdair. I detected, however, a hint of superiority in his attitude; he informed me that he had a scrambling guidebook and implied that although nowhere near where he thought he was he knew better than me and so surmising that he was not the advice-taking type I wished him luck and made a leisurely descent.Wycombe Wanderer31/03/2019

Repeat of a last year, again with Tony) but could see it all this time in sunshine and the dry !- all so much easier and reassuring when it is dry and you know where you are going form previous knowledge rather than wondering if you are climbing up / along a dead end. However without last year;s cloud and rain we could see the drops all too wellChris Pearson16/06/1985
Raining. Boggy 'paths' to Coire Lagan w Tony, Dickie, Steve. Raining. Easy uphill to Sgumain. Greasy slabs. interesting scrambly ridge -to Alasdair Rock - Tricky to find correct R1 route (a mod climb)up Threalaich (in our Scrambles in Skye book) in cloud and rain. Great run down Great Stone Chute - until my boot split, and both my camera and watch stopped working in the damp - otherwise a great (if wet) adventure.Chris Pearson23/04/1984
