Parked at fishing club gate. Headed along to hut then followed northern shore to sheds. Continued to follow eastern shore to stone wall then wandered up to summit. Back by much the same way. | JAdair97 | 24/01/2024 |
Same route as Summiteer on a lovely bright but cold March morning. | Crumblie2 | 08/03/2023 |
Same route as summiter along north shore of Loch Coulter on a wet morning to complete the UA. | PeterD | 08/06/2022 |
Parked at the gate that leads onto a road/track along the north side of Loch Coulter. Walked past a fishing club building onto a grass path that continues to the NE corner of the loch. Over a wall and marshy dip then a straightforward climb to Skea Craig. Thought about completing a lap of the loch, but impending rainfall made returning the way I came the quickest option. | summitter | 07/04/2022 |
Falkirk completion by pleasant walk from 222m spot height near Coulter Reservoir. Great views between snow showers. On to Barr Wood Hill. | lordtonult | 04/02/2022 |
From Hall Quarter. Fewer obstacles than expected. excessively wet everywhere. | Wycombe Wanderer | 30/12/2021 |
Parked at Hall Quarter (NS 7822 8603). Near enough direct line taken, rough ground all the way, thankfully all dry as a bone. | jonglew | 24/07/2021 |
Park just before Hall Quarter. Walk SW. across the fields to the top. Descend towards sharp bend on Meikle Canglour farm track. Follow track then road to Lower Canglour. Go thro gate then over fields to Barr Wood Hill. No cattle in the fields at this time. | bjewing | 20/03/2021 |
As per Minto. Gorse, bog and being chased by cows...nightmare of a hill. | curlebd | 25/10/2020 |
Easy from the reservoir. Access track to fishing club building. Shoreline to obvious rocky section. Can go inland there, or, for fun, follow the shore on rocks. Once past the broken metal cages (underfoot, care) you can head directly uphill, hassle free. | Belfarm | 27/06/2020 |
With Steve T. At first a pleasant walk then a nightmare trying to avoid bog, mud and gorse. Might be easier hiring a helicopter for this one. | Play2End | 04/03/2020 |

Very pleasant approach along the glen from P at W end of Fankerton. Worthwhile finding the decaying track NW from Stoneyinch despite the gorse, till NS 77439 85282, then up gap by old spring. | agentmancuso | 10/11/2018 |
From Fankerto Hut, beauty full walk up autumnal Glen Carron. At end of reserve head up into fields. Stay in pastures until RHW gorse free route. Pleasant varied walk. | Campbell Singer | 01/11/2018 |
From Fankerton CP. Carron Glen pretty but once you leave it tracks hard to find amid gorse and bracken. Nice view from summit. | Thearlaichdubh | 22/07/2018 |
As Minto to 727847 where the gorse has encroached across the path. Turned NNE over wall and up cleared area to the top ridge. One more wall to cross between second and last summit but no gorse. Great views, and dry. | iangalbraith | 25/01/2018 |
Cycled up to Wester Barnego. Then track &cattle track through gorse. Don't wear shorts. In fact Kevlar over trousers would be a good idea. | ngthack | 16/05/2017 |
Parked at Carron Glen car park near Fankerton. then tried to follow Minto's directions most of the way. Beware gorse and wet narrow tracks. Falkirk TUMP completion. | Dugswell2 | 11/10/2016 |
A sunny evening walk from the Fankerton hut. Following the wall that runs between the two tops before the summit is a viable route through the gorse. | Nick Down1 | 16/09/2016 |
As others fankerton hut path along river then track and up through gorse. | robertphillips | 15/12/2015 |
Fine walk along Carron Glen from Fankerton Hut, and onto the upland area with superb views | neimcv | 22/09/2015 |
Accessed from Lochend Farm, where I was staying. | JohnW | 17/07/2015 |
With Tom. P at hall. Cracking walk along and above river. As Robb to get through the gorse. Fantastic views all round. Cairn at top. | chrisbien | 16/05/2015 |
Minto route. Gorse free route to ridge starts NS77478527 leading to obvious dip in skyline. Prepenultimate Falkirk tump and a nice outing | RHW | 26/04/2015 |
From B818 at Fankerton. Parking at village hall, or Carron Glen car park next door, right under the pylons.

Path zig-zags down to bridge, across river and W on north bank. At wall/gate at end of nature reserve, continued 50m, then head up right on narrow path, steeply through bracken to Stoneyinch, and the track nearby. Where track turn more westwards (wall corner) head N then NE through GORSE(beware much of this) - narrow cattle tracks, to open ground on the ridge. Large summit cairn, with fine views. | Minto | 23/11/2014 |
Ascent on 9th Sept 2020 from the east, very easy along the shore and then over the moor to a good view. Found out that I had been up here in 2009. | fasgadh | 17/01/2009 |
