Came down track past quarry to E of Tairlaw Hill and continued straight on up FB to easternmost point on South Top ridge, which seemed the highest to me. Clouds of flies swarming everywhere; resorted to wearing midgie net that I normally only use for camping. Continued W over rough ground to 387m spot, then curving down FB towards pylon & faint track to forest road opposite road up to mast. Went up to revisit trig before heading back to car. | agentmancuso | 07/07/2020 |
Parked track to North, near junction for Tairlaw Ring. Rough going under Pylon line and up overgrown F.B. Visited all 3 Tops. Descent route was further North than ascent; involved a stream crossing. Very rough Hill. With the F.C. | The Captain | 10/09/2019 |
Car park at W end of Loch Bradan. Track along N side of Loch, then on far side of quarry headed directly N up to summit of Craig Dhu. Continued W across some fairly rough ground to reach ridge and Tairlaw Hill South Top (didn't visit the new summit location updated 2020). Descended NW to electicity lines and followed back to forest road. | RobertP | 08/12/2018 |

7th hill of 11 today and 1st as part of the Tairlaw loop. I was climbing Tairlaw hill at one point but went off-course None of the forest rides corresponded to my pre-planned route but clear felled forest to south of this hill made it easier going. The grid reference given is for an indistinct bilberry/heathery knoll whereas a series of knolls of similar height continue northwards and at one of these i got a reading of 399m so would suggest that summit is further North. After exploring these i headed east on edge of clear-felled forest heading for Craig Dhu. | Dazingdale | 09/05/2017 |
Horrible hill but with great views. As Colin but at 41270 98688 followed stream up to top. | chrisbien | 10/04/2017 |
Not nice. i approached from the track to the north, using a firebreak from NX412987, which gets you to the middle contour ring. The new plantings are impenetrable so the break is essential to find. terrain on top is spongy and very demoralising | Colin Crawford | 02/06/2016 |
