Was staying and Tobermory Campsite and it was a dry sunny evening so decided to walk up the main road for 2 miles to Loch Meadhoin. The house ruin that marked the start of the path up the hill has now been demolished and the area fenced off by builders with signs asking walkers to use the gate onto the hillside just west of this area. A beaten path through a bank of ferns leads onto the open hillside and rough path leads all the way to summit. Returned by same route back to campsite. 6 miles total. Great views from top across to Coll and Tiree and up the Ardnamurchan peninsula and beyond to Rum, Canna and Skye Cullin.Jossker14/07/2023

Here for geocache GC54029 The Crater Loch. Loved the description of this cache which contained, 'path can be wet and boggy in the wet months Jan-Dec'. Parked in quarry just along from cottage for a lovely walk around the crater.thejackrustles10/09/2020

An easy short walk on a good path from the cottage to the south. Nice views to Ardnamurchan. Parking east of the cottage seems OK. Although it looks like a passing space, it is not signposted as such and there are 2 other passing spaces either side of it. Given the popularity of the walk, I suspect it's meant to be a lay by.Gill22/09/2019
With Ian S. From ruin near high point of Tobermory-Dervaig road. Northwards on rather soggy path. Through gate and up leftwards to ridge and round clockwise, descending by wall beside outflow from Lochan ’s Àirde Beinn and back to B8073 by outward route. Wall-to-wall sunshine, would have been very warm but for stiff wind. Extensive views — Coll, Rùm, Skye, Ben Nevis, Ben Cruachan, and much else identifiable — but more distant peaks very hazy. No cairn at summit on this day.mainnirnamfiadh21/09/2019

As others short walk from the ruin up a boggy but reasonable path to the crater. Fine views to Rum and to mainland Ben Hiant in sunshineN.Morters19/04/2018
With J. Started from the ruin on an overcast day with rain showers. Wandered round the lochan & then back to the car. Very soggy. A runner set off up the hill just as we returned to the car as the rain tonked it down. Clearly she knew something we didn't because 20 minutes later, the sun was out & it was (almost) tropical. A great wee hill for a short trip out.NotReallyABagger30/12/2017
