Followed the 3gate route. Very easy.Andrew Simmons16/02/2024
As Richard below from the 3rd gate.Entrance to the path not immediately obvious until you are past the first tree.Nice clear path from then on to the old wall.Added a couple of small stones to the nascent cairn.ARM29/04/2023
From the lay-by, third gate off the road and straight up a path cut through the trees. Right at a ruined dyke to a clearing and pond. Summit in trees on opposite corner of clearing.fasgadh05/03/2023
Parked in a lay-by a few hundred metres south of Pt.246. Walked back up the road and along private road towards West Carswell. A few hundred metres shy of the house is a grass track that runs through new tree planting and along the S side of the hill. I followed it until reaching a wall E of the summit, tracking this through forestry until I managed to find the summit (I placed a couple of boulders on what I reckon is the high point). An easier return through the forest follows a line of trees that have been brashed. This pops out into the open around due south of the summit.summitter26/07/2022
Second attempt this week, this time from minor road to south. Bigger stone placed on wee lump. Earlier foray through forest from northwest ended badly.lordtonult07/09/2021
Round of 5 from Neilston - Knockenae, Dareduff Hill, Knockmade, Corkindale Law and Thornliemuir. Approached from NW - left road at Long Craigs, past wind turbine then across bog to plantation. Nearly ended up going up false summit to NW (very similar in height?) but after much tree bashing arrived at summit. Descended to road to SW as per previous logs.quadbarrel13/03/2021
By Campbell Singer's route. Someone has put 3 stones on a wee lump which appears to be the summit.bjewing16/02/2021
Parked at lay-by on main road to west of the Private Road to West Carswell. Third gate, very rusty but opens very easily at NS 45355 52374. Over to the right and follow edge of trees to boulder at NS 45500 52406. Ride entrance at NS 45525 52416. Ride takes you straight to pond. Summit a few meters beyond. Easier than expected.Campbell Singer26/09/2020
Not the best time of year for this one, grass approach was roughhillsman30/08/2020
From house at junction to W. Along road then through clearings. Summit just above wee pond as others have noted.sclater07/07/2020
Straight up from the track to the south, relatively easy to find a route through the trees. On a circular walk from Neilston: heading off north after summit proved trickier.Grinner22/06/2020
Followed 'cmac's guidance and grid references, parking at the layby to the south of the junction to West Carswell. The rocky knoll can be seen just as you approach the third gate, walked past the knoll along the line of the trees and found the pleasant easy ride through the forest at the reference given(NS45665 52601). The right turn after the 200m (maybe slightly less) is at the high point of the ride and directly opposite the summit. Rough walking initially through the grass, but pleasant in the trees.LizH11/06/2020
From lay by at NS44826 52250, walked up access road towards West Carswell Farm. At third gate on left headed towards knoll with boulder. Continued with trees on right to NS45665 52601 where there is a small branch free ride. Followed this for approx 200m then turned right on another ride to summit.cmac31/05/2020
2nd Tump of a 10 on a 26.6km circuit from Harelaw, climbing Knockenae then following minor lane to the 229m spot height then grassy track around the 259m knoll then South through replanted deciduous woodland circling round through conifers onto a broad ride. i headed South to the other side then took a route Ene then Nne to arrive at the pool and then into the trees for the high point. I recorded 264m @ NS 45673 52471 and 265m @ NS 45662 52471. I continued on a route curving round to ride heading NE en-route to James's hill....Dazingdale28/09/2019
Parked on the road to West Carswell, right by a gate. The road verge has been filled with hardcore, presumably to assist logging lorries to pass. Head NE, to edge of forest, over a small knoll with boulder on summit. Entrance to narrow forest ride is not clear, but once inside it's easy to break off a few more very dead twigs and branches to emerge at the pool near the summit, which 5 trees in to the N. Broad ride (path noted by others) continues N.Minto03/07/2019
across fields from Knockmade towards Carswell Farm, then follow obvious rides. Pleasant surprise to find pond. On to Neilston PadThearlaichdubh15/01/2017
From sw, gate, narrow firebreak, hp knoll at edge of path 16m ne of pond bank, is or was an OS trig block approx at same location. My final Renfrewshire tumpRHW19/11/2016
from near west carswell gate then firebreak through trees to pond.robertphillips30/06/2015
From SW via firebreak, wide at first then after cairn narrow & low.agentmancuso02/01/2015
P at start of rd to Townhead of Grange. Along rd to W Carswell then along clearing and followed line of old wall (covered over). Top past pond just onto path mentioned by Campagvelocetchrisbien30/12/2014
