Felt like a long way from Beinn Gaire, over the minor top Mam na Luirg, not helped by cloud base around 550-600m, necessitating frequent navigation checks, and uneven terrain. Opted to return over Beinn Gaire having read reports of Glen Moidart being a boggy quagmire, and followed a line a little south of the summit, the cloud base now having lifted, before returning to the track at Glenforslan.Owen B20/08/2023
Beinn Gaire and Croit Bheinn, camped by bridge 2km up from Glen Moidart road end. Route out very straightforward and pleasant. return by dropping down into Glen Moidart was not. It looked good from the top but after first km or so was tussocks, tussocks with bog, bog, tussocks with bog and more bog. Even final path marked on map was more bog than path.dickscroop31/08/2022

Walk up Glen Moidart camped in the Glen day before then short pull to the top then walked out.Fellhugger14/05/2022
Beinn Gaire, Croit Bheinn and some tops from road end in Glen Moidart. From Glenforslan climbed grassy slopes to reach shore of reservoir, then climbed by Allt an Fhithich and on to Beinn Gaire. Traversed to Croit Bheinn, returned to beallach and on to Beinn an t-Samhainn, Cruach nan Caorach and Cruach nan Caorach SW Top. Descended to Glen Forslan and back to Glen Moidart. Bright sunny conditions and outstanding views to the Rois-bheinn ridge.RobertP23/04/2022
With Tom Oldham on a high wind day. Followed the SMC guidebook route.alexmaclennan26/02/2022
Loch nan Lochan (740722 car park) to Glen Forslan Reservoir tnen Sron Dubh an Eilich to Beinn Gaire 666m, Bealach a' Choire Mhor & Croit Bheinn 663m. Returned by same route to enjoy high ridge below cloud base & avoid a very damp valley. A mainly bright, clear & breezy day becoming overcast with blustery wintery showers.Vin03/11/2021
Beinn Gaire and Croit Bheinn from Glen Moidart. Returned over BG ridge, nicer, drier and more comfortable than most accounts of the River Moidart bogs and tussocks despite the extra ascent. Thank you to the contributor who pointed this out.Topographer5701/10/2019
Took track to S & E of river to Glenforsain beside wall then headed for SW ridge Beinn Gàire then Beinn Gàire back to Bealach a' Choire Mhòir & down into the quagmire Glen Moidart. Boots were saturated. 9h 15m.rogreeves08/09/2019
Anti clockwise circuit of Glen Moidart. Hills very dry.daviemore14/05/2019
Done with Beinn Gaire from Glen Moidart. Good going along the track for a couple of miles before the bog. Good views of Roisbhelnn and Sgurr na ba Glaise before mist descended and rain started for rest of the day. Long way through the valley before crossing the river and up to the col. On a clear day would be a wonderful summit. 5 and a half hours total for the twoketzster01/04/2019
Climbed from reservoir, up onto ridge over Ben Gaire along ridge and then back again along ridge nearly back to Ben Gaire. Given the book reports of boggyness of valley although a bit more climbing this proved to be a pleasant route with the ridge between the 2 relatively easy walking.JulieB31/08/2018
An easy walk up Glen Moidart to Croit Bheinn over bone dry bogs. Even the bogs on the way to Beinn Gaire were more or less dry. Note: the descent from Beinn Gaire needs some care with the map work, and I ended up checking with a bearing, despite perfect visibility. The plateau is quite complex. Saw a beautiful healthy dog fox coming up the hill when I was coming down. Funnily enough he was disinclined to stop for a chat.Gill08/06/2018

From parking space at end of road up Glen Moidart. Took track on East side that leads past small hydro scheme and up to Loch Forslan. Easy up ridge to Beinn Gaire. Oneards over snowy and icy ground oving several small tops to Bealach before Croit Bheinn. Steeply down to Glen Gluitanen and the long haul out. Stay up on East side on way out, can avoid worst if the wet ground. Passing the old village of Ulgary, poignant tales of the clearance from here.nordicstar05/03/2016
A great day out, and fine winter conditions for the higher level walking. I found my spikes useful on the icy ground between the two tops. Interesting social history on long walk back through the glens. The going was not too wet, but rather rough on places.jenx05/03/2016

From Beinn Gaire. This hill only slightly lower than Gaire. An easy long descent with several re-clims. Good views of larger hills to the north. Left pack with yellow cover at 450m in final bealach. Through a border of grey crags to the top at 13.50. 2 stone men just east of the top looking down into Aladale. Massive view in a circle. Golden Plover. 9 3/4 hour day.arranc02/07/2011
