Sgurr Dhomhnuill, Sgurr a' Chaorainn and Beinn na h-Uamha with John and Jon (and Alfie the retriever). Traverse from Ariundle Forest car park to Sallachan (car on either side). Bigger day than anticpated with some steep rough terrain - particularly the drop off Sgurr na h-Ighinn where we dropped about 100m to find we couldn't find a route down through the crags, so had to reascend to the top to find another route down. Expected duration was arounds 8h - but we got back to Sallochy after 9h 20min, with head torches on. Tough day.mproudfoot04/11/2023

4/4 After Beinn na h-Uamha on point-to-point from Corran to Scotstown. Summit in the clag. Good going, has been a dry spring. Afterwards, down to bealach with Sgurr na h-Ian, then rising traverse to ridge and down to the mines. Another rising traverse to Belsgrove lochans, then on to Polloch road and down to cottage. Sgurr a' Chaorainn & Beinn na h-Uamha from the Ariundle CP. Through the NNR to the old Lead mines. Up to Druim Leac a' Sgiathain, then contoured around Sgurr na h-Ighinn using deer trods to reach Sgurr a' Chaorainn, then on to Beinn na h-Uamha. Reversed the route to get back. 7hrs.summitter27/02/2023
From Ighinn and on to Sgurr na Laire, loving the inversion.sclater18/12/2021
From Beinn na h-Uamha. Very pleasant mostly grassy broad ridge, some zig-zagging to maintain height and avoid outcrops. Straightforward rocky then grassy ascent. Descent initially south, then east, to south side of Coire na Laire, grassy, not too steep or uneven. Picked up the ATV track which led to the easy river crossing and directly to the main track back to Sallachan. Strong unrelenting sunshine behind me, thought it best just to get on with it, made good time back to the car.Owen B30/05/2021
With: hb; From Bealach Mam a'Bhearna up NW then W ridge. Returned back to bealach then contoured around Sgurr na h-Ighinn before descending to wildcamp in upper Allt Feith Dhomhnuill.Ian Baines19/05/2021
Followed SMC book route from Ariundle to old lead mines then along ridge to west of the hill, on a hot day - much more tiring hill than map would suggest (though bike might help first 2-3km). Returned more south-ish to Strontian Glen, which I would recommend as the route up as well.willyross14/08/2020
Overnighter, camped by the lead mines and came up via Sgùrr na h-Ighinn, then back to Ariundle by the glen.Grinner18/07/2020
An interesting variant on standard routes. Start along Glen Gour, climb Beinn na h-Uamha, then head along the very good twisty turny ridge to climb Sgurr a'Chaorainn. Ridiculously steep descent S to the small plateau below, then down Coire na Laire, steep at first, then easy. The walk out was a bit grim. The path on the 1:25K map is a horrid, stony bog fest. The lower ATV track is little better but leads to a ford and the land rover track. This too is awful, stony, up and down and with horrible deep water splashes at every dip. It improves a bit once you get to the trade route up BnU but the long walk out is character-forming..Gill20/10/2019
During a solo week in Ardgour & Sunart. Did the courteous thing & contacted the local estate office giving detailed proposed route in effort to avoid any stalking. The dubious reply started with 'it would be best for us...if you could avoid planning to take access during this 8 week period...' before grudgingly asking me to stick to paths & ridges. Went out on the hill anyway. From the nature reserve to the lead mine & then up Druim Leac a' Sgiathain as far as the lochan, traversed the slope using a faint path to the col under Sgurr a'Chaorainn. Ascent of slope much rougher than it looked. Then followed the rough ridge to Beinn na h-Uamha. Back by the same route: a tough day. Didn't see any stalkers or anybody else. Probably a bit easier to start at mast on road N of Strontian.NotReallyABagger01/10/2019

Did after Beinn na h-Uamha. Took bike from Sallachan to approx 925646 but wouldn't do so again as the track was very rough. Had to get off several times.duchally02/08/2016
Beinn na h-Uamha, Sgurr a'Chaorainn, Sgurr na Laire from Sallachan via the pleasant Glen Gour on a warm sunny day. Encountered an adder on the path on the return.RobertP26/05/2016
From Arundle car park (10:20) cycled up track to 855654 (near ruin by river)(10:50). Climbed to upper track & old mine, then up ridge over Sg na h-Iguinn (12:50), down to col and up to Sg Dhomhnuill (13:25). Lovely day, fine views. Returned to col then descended E down steep grassy slope keeping R of burn to cross glen. Then traversed L, then up to col & broad rocky ridge to quartzite cairn on B na h-Uamha (15:45). Retraced steps westward and traversed Sg a Chaorainn (17:05), descending WNW down to col. Down SW to glen and followed river back to bike (18:40) and car (19:10). Fabulous long day in glorious weather with views to outer Hebs & Schiehallion.dbb14/06/2015

From Beinn na'Uamha, over transverse rockbands, knolls and hollows. A Golden Eagle circled and we had a view from Cruachan to a snow-plastered Kintail. On a Sallachan to Strontian traverse- the 0930 bus to Fort William bus makes the logistics easy but this is rough country and even the right of way over the col below looked to have a long pathless section.
