2/4 After Druim na Sgriodain and before Beinn na h-Uamha on point-to-point walk. All but last summit clear. Low cloud coming and going, sun struggling to break through. | Rounsfell | 26/05/2023 |
Route from the entrance to Glen Scaddle. Walked along Glen Scaddle for approx 6km to gap in forest and headed steeply up hillside. Found a ledge to camp overnight and in the morning continued to Tom Uaine. Then A' Bheinn Bhan with its outstanding views of snow-dappled Garbh Bheinn and Beinn na h-Uamha. Returned to beallach, traversed under Tom Uaine, then steady ascent SE to summit of Druim na Sgriodain, surrounded by lochans. Continued along interesting broad ridge to Sgurr na h-Eanchainne, descended N ridge and on to summit of Monadh Leathann. Descended along ridge ENE, picking a bad (very steep) line to eventually reach the road and back to start. Ideal clear conditions, but strong icy wind on the tops. | RobertP | 20/03/2022 |
From Glen Scaddle. Good track to obvious gap in forest. Then steeply up Tom Uaine the grassy slopes to summit. Long track but keeps hill grass to a minimum | N.Morters | 20/01/2022 |
A nice hill and an easy walk for my last Marilyn in section 18. Along the ATV track from Sallachan past the failed dam then easy, fairly dry walking across sheep pastures to cross a burn by trees, track continues (easy, grassy) between Allt an Tuim Odhar and Allt Lice. At lip of coire just past a RH bend, clear path heads towards pt 297, easy across Allt Lice, then traverses up N side of burn coming from ridge E of N end of Lochan Ard na Beinne Baine. Path crosses to S side by steep area, then continues almost to ridge, indistinct in places but easy to re-find. Easy stroll to summit, good views; also visited lower top. Best done during a drought. | Gill | 04/05/2021 |
Cycled from Inverscaddle to burn at 950675. Animal tracks up East side to deer fence flattened by a fallen tree. Then directly to summit, returning the same way. 17.7k. | NormanW | 29/06/2019 |
From NN018684, up Glen Scaddle. Chose this route as was now fed up with toody blussock grass and this had promise of minimising it - but still plenty of it. Started up, SE, from where track exits forest at cattle grid, NM959676. An Tx help a little up W side of pair of streams, but they lead you astray to a knoll 500m E of Tom Uaine. Descended to col W of Tom Uaine, but no 'nice' way down - straight down leads to high fence and dense scrubby trees, whereas TR, ENE, to end of fence is on awkward steep ground - chose the latter. It's a long way back on that track. Beautiful white tom cat at Aryhoulan. | Isbjorn | 15/06/2019 |
2 of 3: From Tom Uaine. | ChrisR | 31/07/2018 |
Cycled up Glen Scaddle as far as track HP. Track not up to FC standard but mostly OK. Steep ascent up tussocky deciduous woodland then easy ridge. | Topographer57 | 11/06/2018 |
From bridge over River Gour on minor road at foot of Glen Gour. An ATV track handily took me (a bit sploshily) up to 210m. Recorded route and write-up at: http://gayleybird.blogspot.com/2018/05/a-bhan-and-beinn-laimhain.html | Gayle | 06/05/2018 |
A bheinn bhan and tom uaine from sallachan, followed wet atv track for about 2.5 km to flat area, then over point 297 to the top, returned over tom and down bealach choire to pick up atv track. | robertphillips | 25/02/2018 |
From Glen Gour via Lochan na Beinne Baine. | Chris Peart | 14/05/2016 |
From Sallachan, heading NW around wet boggy area by staying just on higher ground at edge. ATV track drives a line up the hill to 250m into hanging valley area. Thereafter cut a direct line to summit, following deer tracks. A wet day so no views. | nordicstar | 11/03/2016 |
Wonderfully wet. Great amount of water pouring down the hills. | jenx | 11/03/2016 |
Glorious solo walk along north ridge from Sallachan in bright sunshine. snow from 600m.so snowshoed on a couple of tops. | alexmaclennan | 09/03/2016 |
Sorry for being lazy but exact same as Nordicstar (except it was dry!) | AndrewFinnimore | 11/04/2014 |
R terrible marilyn with Rup wet boggy windy mist navig difficult river crossings most awful marilyn ever! | Richard Tait | 10/05/2013 |
Park in shade at Rubha Dearg. Back on road for a mile and into Glen Scaddle. Good surface on rough road up the glen, but track went uphill to cross a cattle grid into a fir plantation for 1 3/4 miles. Deer grunting in forest. How did they get there? Uphill over long deer grass with concealed boulders making progress but moving to the left away from the objective. On an outcrop before crossing a deep ravine to the right. Further uphill then inevitable loss of height and a clamber up Tom Uaine which blocked my route. Another hefty descent and on final slopes in hot sun to the top at 13.45. 7 stones on a protruding grey rib. Nevis, Loch Linnhe, S M Eacharna, B Bheag, B na h-Uamha, Dhomhnuill, Bheathain and Tignacomaire and Grey Corries. 8 hour day. | arranc | 26/07/2011 |
