Parked by the phone box to SW. Up the forest road, shown on 1:50k map, but not the 1:25k map. Left at top, to traverse across to stream, followed this easily upwards, then across to summit.Minto19/05/2023
Dry breezy day, front approaching as summited but luckily didn't rain. Approached from Gallanach at end of track to west as seemed easiest way up that did not involve deer fences et al. Just couple of small burn crossings where footbridges no longer exist. Not too boggy but hadn't rained for a few days.Heather TS15/04/2023
Parked at disused quarry entrance. Up overgrown track as per Simon Winton. When got to deer fence, went up beside it. over wall at fence corner then through steep bracken and grass. Descended east to approx 000992 then down to join track at 0004/9893 which reaches A83 at approx 004987. This would have been a longer but easier route up. No forestry operations at the moment.duchally17/08/2022
The easy way? The start of the track to Gallanach is at 982965, in Minard. I drove up past the houses to a parking spot by some bins. Walked up to the reservoir on the shiny new pylon construction track, took the branch down to the reservoir. At the apex of the bend, an old ATV track leads to a wide river ford (avoid in wet weather). Clear path/animal tracks beyond lead easily but moistly through the tussocky bogs to part way up Cnoc na Craoibhe-fearna, then easy, mossy grass. Above, the path re-emerges and goes to the top, clear except at the boggy cols. Probably the path would be less obvious when the vegetables are in full growth during summer.Gill17/01/2022
10th and final tump on a circuit from Crarae gardens, approached from Cnoc Adharcairn, a fairly gruelling climb from the West but made it eventually. Descent just as difficult encountering brash and large tussocks before entering sanctuary of forest and then the serenity of Crarae gardens again. Will definitely come back to Crarae, such a lovely place.Dazingdale06/09/2021

Last of day after pit stop at Carron bothy.iangpark17/08/2020
Parked just up a forestry track, 150m SW of quarry 995980. Followed forestry track west and uphill until it peters out, then up hill through one deer fence and over another by a burn where you can get a dog through the burn gate. From here it is a steep climb but quite easy terrain to the top.Simon Winton17/02/2020
4 of 4: I had seen a likely route from Dun Leacainn. Parked at 003988 at the bottom of the timber road. The last lorry and a van came down as I walked up. Then used caterpiller track through the felled area; forestry workers all gone. Climbed over a wall and B/W fence but then in high bracken for a while. Ok when past this.ChrisR30/07/2019
From the track northwest, around edge of mature forest. Bit boggy and tussocky, but an old forest path eases things later. Reach open ground, then more or less straight up.PGCE23/05/2019
From cafe at quarry. Very steep, but easier by following the burn from the top of the forest road starting opposite the cafe. Previously done from Minard and up the forest road. Terrain less steep but just as hideous. Sunny and frozen, clear views.iangalbraith09/12/2018
From Crarae... late afternoon, asked and was allowed to park at the gardens.. Track up to top of gardens then 1/2km of hellish brush and scrub. Then mixed bracken and high tuff grass easing to heather... a classic haha rewarded with great views and a couple of clegg bitesN.Morters09/07/2018
Parked at quarry cafe/garden centre (customers only). Up track and by deer fence to wall/ barbed wire fence. Beware the next section is a brutal slog up a steep tussocky hell before the ground gets easier higher up. Perhaps access to the hill via the tracks to the south, although longer, would be less painful.AndrewFinnimore11/07/2017
From the quarry tea room, where parking may risk lock in. Bulldozed track, followed by tree fighting as far an old wall which leads up to open hill where the ground is rough and uncomfortable.Topographer5730/05/2017
With Jenx from parking by the old quarry on A83 at Crarae. Used the small track just to south of quarry into trees, then a 100m thrash up through birch, young spruce and damp ground to older deciduous tree area then wall. From here a quick line up over tussocky ground to summit. Up and down in 1.5 hrs. Best on a cool dry day!nordicstar14/04/2016
From the cafe by the quarry. Up the track a little way then thrash through trees to wall and open hillside.jenx14/04/2016
With Mora, from the east parking on forest track at nn023014BLACKHILL26/09/2015
You can drive quite a way up the street/track. It has an area for recycling bins way past all the houses. Walk along the track where they ate working on some electricity stuff. Cross the burn that feeds the loch with the dam. Straight forward from there.tallblond07/06/2015
took track 50 metres west of fish farm and west side of quarry, then after 200m up through trees to open ground to summit.robertphillips30/11/2014
Came up on the good track from Minard and then continued to Carron bothy via Sidhean Beag trig pillar.Alex C03/08/2012
Parked west of Minard. On A83 around back of village to forest road close by pylons. Down over wet tussock and swamp to cross stream, over fence. Steeply uphill over relatively dry moor. A third heave of tussock past 2 cairns with final pull up to visible horizon and trig 400m away. 11.00. No cairn. Very strong S wind.arranc25/04/2006
