Similar parking at small quarry to west of scammadale farm. Up right of way , and on to a cattle feeder. Over tussocky land , which has been planted with trees , found a feint wet ATV. Aimed for highest point. Got to fence. Dropped height until and obvious fence junction. Followed that , and used mobile O S 1:25 mapping with aerial views to find the narrowest way through trees. Not easy when on your own. The ground between the upper contour lines are water logged. Curious that sheep are out grazing in the planted area.VerySlowPlodder15/03/2024
Good parking in old quarry 300m W of Scammadale farm. From fence jct at NM 9009 2136 followed firebreak, descending 20m before break turns sharp left to reach summit in open ground. Don't be tempted to leave the fence earlier, the trees are impenetrable! Galltywenallt29/03/2023
Mike parked at a good parking area by the first cottage at the E end of Loch Scammadale and we walked back along the road to the easy grassy hill track at Scammadale. Up this, a short section off piste, then onto a good ATV track to the 310m high point of the open ground next to the forest fence. Down tussocks a few yards to where the boundary fence turns south, then NE into the forest along the mapped fence. There's an old ATV track to ease the way, so the going is not bad at all. The going is less good where the fence turns NW, but still with deer tracks, to open ground and the top. Not too difficult at all. Following the fence makes it all dead easy for route finding.Gill12/05/2022

Straightforward ascent from grassy track at Scamadale. Then after track end pretty horrible ground to fence junction and forest ride but thereafter very straightforward if you do not deviate from the fence.Crumblie212/10/2021
From cattle grid (limited parking) just east of Scammadale Farm, up the track to its end, then grassy, occasionally tussocks grass to fence and obvious gate. Earlier spotted from Carn Dearg that a short direct cut through forest would bring out into the summit area clearing saving following the fence and boggy walk as described. Directly over gate, through thin young planting into an obvious stream channel, continuing strait over next picked way 30-40m through taller trees into a smaller stream gap. Followed uphill to the right, occasionally boggy to end at deciduous band of trees and through this easily out into summit clearing. Clearing has a large cluster of older forest, turned this on the left to flatter area and a small area of trees then turned on the right up to summit. 90mins round trip, far easier than other reports suggested. 2/2 Marilyn.N.Morters08/11/2020
From Loch Scammadale. Followed fence into forest, as others. When the gradient eases, bear left uphill and soon push through a few trees to reach open ground with the summit about 5 minutes away.PGCE20/02/2020
Got this tick ascending S.W from the new forest track to the N.E. It was awful terrain, poor visibility and trees everywhere. Not for the feint hearted!Play2End22/01/2020
Verge parking S side road at NM 8900 2071. Wide grassy track leads up to its terminus at NM 8951 2155. Entered the plantation at NM 9007 2144, picked up a fence and followed it round its 90deg bend to the summit. Everywhere very wet underfoot and raining persistently.jonglew22/08/2019
4th tump of 12 on a 30.3km circuit from Kilninver, climbing Cnoc Raera, Cnoc Glen Gallain (a forest thrash) crossing the River Euchar on a bridge to follow the minor lane East. A wonderful peaceful area. I turned up the Gleann nan Cruidhean track, veering off to head direct at NM89446 21488, Ene then NE to arrive at the summit, recording 366m @ NM 90363 21893. I had lunch a few metres below the top before proceeding to Creag Ghlasrach...Dazingdale16/05/2019

The parking at Scamadale was all very boggy so used the hard standing at the E end of the loch, as Blackhill.Chris Peart15/04/2017
Cattle at scammerdale not good for dogs so parked at nm 902 205 then nw steep to moor then as others route.BLACKHILL28/10/2016
As Rick and Jen, however don't abandon the fence when it appears to go back down, it will turn left and go to the summit. Cool, cold wind, breathtaking views, sunny.iangalbraith23/10/2016
The fence line is still the best route through. Missed it on the way up and much easier down that way. Always fun pushing through some conifers though!jenx04/01/2016
With Jenx from the farm to south. Good track to 230m, then bear up right not direct to the apparent summit. Need to avoid thickening plantations, look for a wire fence junction at 90094 21367 and follow fence through to higher if boggy ground leading to summitnordicstar04/01/2016

Glorious day hike up track from sw with Chris Watson. Go into forest at fence at 901213 and if you want to avoid trees altogether stay at fence ride, descending 20 m from col to junction then turn left, north and it takes you right up to summit. However, at the gig point of fence before it descends, one can turn left into fairly open trees for not much more than 150 m and one is out on open hillside sw of the summit.vegibagger10/06/2015

From the farm track to the south. Following the fence in the forest marked on the 1:25,000 map keeps you out of the trees. The summit is in a big clearing.fasgadh24/05/2014
Up track from Scammadale. From the top of the track it is tempting to make for an apparent summit on the horizon (which is close to but not the true summit). Unfortunately the route is obstructed by uncomfortable (but not yet impassable) new forestry development. Probably best to make for edge of older forest at 901214 from where there are breaks through the forest to the open summit ground.Topographer5727/03/2013

Late afternoon ascent from Scammadale.JohnW24/06/2007
Parked by Scammadale Farm. On grassy wide access track and to visible horizon over wet tussock and repeat to forest on horizon. Relaxing uphill plod on tussock to first top. GPS confirmed that real top was 1/4m down and up. 15.55.arranc05/09/2004
Quick, straight-forwards dash up from Scammadale in the last light of the day. Grand views of Jura as sun sets in W.Eddie19/11/2003
