Parked at Shankend Farm, under the viaduct (NT 5218 0593). Shankend Hill and Catrail Edge first then NE following fenceline to meet a good track at NT 5041 0576. Followed it round to cross Penchrise Burn then another fenceline for a short climb up from the west. For the return continued west to meet course of the dismantled rly for a level walk back to Shankend Farm - just the matter of Slitrig Water to cross as it passes under the viaduct! A wet 12.4km round, but Topo Section P08 completed.jonglew10/01/2022
Out from Shankend farm Catrail Edge first down the ridge and up to White Hill. Easterly from here to pick up the old railway line back to Shankend.Andrew Simmons10/05/2021
From Shankend Fm, via The Pike & Penchrise Pen. Back S along railway, always fun walking along old viaducts.agentmancuso07/04/2019
After Penchrise Pen, returned to S-N track then N to junction and SE down past Penchrise farm. Deeply rutted farm track down hill to bend then across rough field to wood. Easiest inside wood, emerges not far from nice summit, a gently rounded grassy shoulder. Returned to S-N track and back to starting point at Dod to W.Aye Jimmy24/02/2019
