Parked at upper Glenbranter CP. Bridge there is down and Cowal Way closed but crossed river a bit downstream. Crossed lower river too and headed E up the firebreak marked on the 1:25k. After the 3rd horizontal track there's a steep Easterly track to Cruach Bhuidhe (435m), which I measured as a P20. Then on to trig.sclater20/03/2024

Forest tracks now lead up from the W to 118955. Easy grassy plod to summit from there. Faced with cliffs in continuing to the S top - a winding route heads NE, then E, then S.49pp13/02/2023

From the Glenbranter car park, walked towards Glenshellish farm, then took the zig-zag track above the farm, and round to the upper forest track above Loch Eck. Branched off on a less obvious track at NS12387 96362 which looked like a single gravel track at first, but proved to be the old forest track. Continued on this track to NS12695 95829, then steeply up alongside the river on slippery moss/grass, into the forest part way up on a deer track, then picked our way up to higher less steep ground. Good views from the summit. Stayed closer to the top part of the river on the way back down, though still slippery and steep. Not for the faint hearted!LizH31/07/2022

From the higher Glenbranter CP, along the Cowal Way forestry track into Glen Shellish until the track ends at the head of the glen. Straight up the SW slope of the Meall Breac's then on to Beinn Bheag and the fab views along Loch Eck. Continued northwards to the Cruach Bhuidhe tops before needing to make a choice on how to get down to the forest tracks below. We plumped for a NW descent - eventually finding an old grass track that in turn led to a more defined forestry track and gave access to the zig-zagging surfaced tracks of Glen Shellish.summitter18/06/2022
Second visit, last top on a full ridge traverse from Benmore, with a camp on Bealach Bernice. Pretty grim descent to reach forest roads to Glen BranterColin Crawford22/04/2021

Parking spot on Glen Massan road at NS139840, walking by River Eachaig, then road / track along Loch Eck to Bernice. Forestry track up Bernice Glen then rough ground to the beallach and steep climb to summit of Meall Breac S Top (several humps) and traverse to summit of Beinn Bheag. N to boggy beallach and climb to summit of Cruach Bhuidhe. Return along ridge, contouring below the tops to Beallach Bernice and then long steady ascent to Beinn Mhor visiting tops to NE only slightly lower. Continued S on ridge, climbing Capull Cloiche, then cross to climb steeply to Clach Bheinn visiting the twin tops and a third top. Continued on to Creachan Mor, Creachan Beag, Creachan Beag SE top, and finally A'Cruach. Descended SE to find grassy track leading to forestry track down to Loch Eck road.RobertP30/08/2020

Solo from Glenbranter FC carpark cutting up a firebreak from the well made low forestry road. Low cloud, blowy, dry. 4 hours.alexmaclennan19/12/2017
With Gill Stevens; first of 12 hills picked off on the ridge from Glenbranter to Benmore. Left a car at Glenbranter forestry car park, followed path past Glenshellish Farm to NS 1270 9603 where a brutal assault of the hillside took place following a stream steeply up. On to the South Top.jonglew14/11/2017
Glenbranter to Benmore, over Cruach Bhuidhe, Beinn Bheag, Beinn Mhor and various Tumps. The starting firebreak was very steep, slippy and nasty, except when you can get through the forestry. Would be quicker/easier/more pleasant to gain height by zig-zagging up the forest road. The walk over the hills is fairly rough, and there is quite a lot of up and down, especially towards the end of the Beinn Mhor ridge. A route for connoisseurs. Look out for Christmas decorations on the trees by the track leading down to Benmore.Gill14/11/2017

From Beinn Bheag. Downhill on more rugged stuff avoiding the sheer drops from above. Bealach now tree covered making it impossible to find the highest point. 13.45. Followed fence posts to their end under the final crag defending the top. Scrambling on steep grass and a slippery stone slide to the top at 14.20. No cairn. Old mast and metal lock up spoil this remote spot. To shorten the 800' renascent going back the way I had come up, went well down to forest edge to find the top track. Decided to use the stream bed in the forest where numerous fallen braches and debris made for very slow going. Slipped on slimy stuff on a boulder so tried a descent away from the stream through more mature trees and to upper track. Found an apparently easy gap in forest below. Wrong again! Fallen branches made progress virtually impossible. No-one would ever find me if I fell and hit my head! Through more brash to second track at 17.20. Coffee. 1 1/2 miles to collect bike. And to car. 3,000' - 17 miles arranc21/07/2010
Revisit. On rocky grassy knoll too compact for a decent background looking NW. Small cabin nearby apparently belongs to dismantled mast; handy hints on mouth-to-mouth resuscitation. From N, car park at NS112975, nice wide grassy gully from 127960; another decent ascent which I used in 2000 starts at 118969. My final Cowal trig pillar.RHW09/05/2010
