Great walking from Moel y Faen, except for the quarry eyesore and getting a gorse spine in my toe. Pleasant descent to complete an excellent walk. 14km, 900m ascent, 3 hours 10 mins. | Wycombe Wanderer | 07/10/2023 |
From Llangollen, via Ponderosa. A fair amount of thick gorse and bracken about this area - ascent from north, descent along right of way to south east. | welshe | 02/09/2023 |

Paths and tracks from the Britannia Inn, then a Sunday lunch reward. | summitter | 27/11/2022 |
From north along FP initially, then followed other tracks through gorse to top. | PeterD | 19/10/2022 |

Up RoW from closed (?) Sun Inn at Rhewl. Lots of debris on track through woodland. Dense low gorse where path is marked on 1:25000 map at 186457. Not a recommended route. Up and back to summit from north. | KeithByTheC | 03/10/2022 |
After revisiting Moel Gamelin. Good views. Solo. | JohnIvor | 01/05/2022 |
On circuit of Llantisilio from Chainbridge, off Moel y Faen and west of quarry workings, from gorse covered summit south through more gorse to Llantisilio SJ191441. | Flatfield | 27/04/2022 |

From Rhewl via Graig Ddu,Morfydd, y Gaer and Gamelin. Quarry has grown a great deal since I was last here. Summit a nice spot with a large gorse bush. Grand views down the vale despite the haze. | stig_nest | 31/03/2021 |
Long walk contouring round from Graig - Ddu.. then a long walk back to the Poderosa Cafe. The empty road wa a help as the Horseshoe Pass was closed for roadworks. | Campbell Singer | 20/09/2020 |
Great day trip with Judy. Parked at chapel in Rhewl. Took three attenpts to sort out new buldozed tracks at 212. Used tracks through the col to reach E end of top ridge. Nice top, but 300m in crutches is a fair climb. | GordonAdshead | 01/09/2020 |
Parked on the SW bend of Horseshoe Pass and climbed steeply to start through bilberries then skirted the spoil heap before picking paths to summit. | clivevilla | 16/05/2019 |
From Rhewl Chapel. The bit of Row past a Small cottage is stunningly beautiful and well kept, complete with minuscule stream. I took a stupid roundabout way through a couple of fields full of the cutest lambs I've ever seen. Up to GaenanHir then back to where I should have been. Tip - go right after the small footbridge early on! Pleasant quiet walk to summit. Hard work for just another Tump. Llangollen is a harsh mistress | tumpawumpa | 17/04/2019 |

Parking area opposite chapel in Rhewl at 182449 - Up road by side of chapel to fingerpost & then decent path with occasional waymarkers up to col - Short climb up to unmarked summit. Damage caused by the lengthy 2018 moorland fire still evident. (S) | gerrybowes | 03/01/2019 |
In darkness from Rhewl, good footpath all the way to the col then through thin bracken to the grassy N slope. The summit rushed towards me through the darkness and I look down on the bright lights of farms and Llangollen. Only the gentle whisper of the wind breaks the silence. | RichardM | 13/11/2018 |
From big bend in road to NNW, up RH side of quarry tips to top of hill (higher than Maesyrychen) then down and across to the hill. Returned via upper contour track to E of quarries, vague and quite gorsey. | Aye Jimmy | 02/02/2018 |
10.1 mile walk from car park near Berwyn Station, walked along minor road to Rhewl then climbed up good path near Cymmo Farm across fern slopes onto Graig-Ddu (for first time) then climbed obvious steep tracks onto Moel Morfydd, Moel.Y.Gaer and Moel.Y.Gamelin (bagged these 3 previously in 2010) and along little trails through ferns onto Maesyrychen Mountains (first time) and followed paths back to road near Llantysilio farm, turned left along more minor road and across field paths to Coed Hyrddyn (first time) along this nice little hill back to car park, overcast with brief bursts of sun, then drove home just beating the bank holiday rush. | DanTrig | 25/08/2017 |
Road side parking near church ENE of Rhewl. Graig-ddu, Moel Morfydd grassy track soon becomes a stoney scar on the landscape all the way to Moel y Faen and unforgiving in today's hot windless weather, Moel y Gaer, Moel y Gamelin, Moel y Faen, Maesyrychen Mountain returned SW to bwlch then S on good narrow path through Heather as per OS map round S edge of quarry then E to good path almost to summit - only a bit of gorse here. | ijpowell | 15/09/2016 |

Parked in the hamlet of Llandynan - room for a car or two sometimes at SJ 18814 44892. Took RoW SE then N up hill, then rough heather and bilberry over Pt. 402m to the summit. Continued on to Moel y Gamelin. Evening walk with MP. | Man of Kernow1 | 18/06/2014 |
An excellent circular want in the Llantisilio Mountains from Rhewl cumulating in bagging this one. | mad max | 18/02/2014 |
Lovely summit & view. From N, Horeseshoe Pass (parking on bend). Contour path overgrown, straight up & over is best. | RHW | 19/06/2011 |
