From Carn nan Gillean. Along ATV track for much of the way, then steeply up grassy rake to very near summit. | KeithByTheC | 28/04/2022 |
As others parked at the car park at the end of the road, followed the track to the summit after a diversion to Carn Nan Gillean on the way for some nice views. From the summit, went across the SW of the larger loch in a fairly direct line over the higher bit of the col to visit the trig point as well. Good views to Scarba and the West Coast from there. Then on the way back came back NE of the larger loch where I picked up an ATV track, which skirted around the summit below the crags to meet the outward ATV track. Very pleasant day but sunny and relatively dry under foot, not sure my direct line to the trig would be as easy in wet conditions. 6.8 miles, just over 3hrs walking time per Garmin. | JulieB | 27/04/2022 |
Following the long out and back to Cruach na Seilcheig. ATV just before road end car park all the way to the summit. | N.Morters | 02/04/2022 |
An easy enough afternoon stroll, though driving there takes longer than you expect; the tarmac-ed road is in a grim state and the last bit of public road is a dirt track. As others, park at end of road, then back-track to clear ATV track and cross the bridge. Simply follow the trail of Jason and the Argocats all the way to the summit. Short detour to Carn nan Gillean on the way back, weird view across many bumps to the N. Track reasonably dry after warm weather, would be a dire, soggy trudge otherwise. | Gill | 29/03/2022 |
From road end. Carn nan Gillean, Ben Garrisdale, Ben Garrisdale NW Top & Cruach Ionnastail. Good day out - excellent weather. with Bolton & CJM. | ger | 27/03/2022 |
With Ger and CM doing the round of 4 tops. | bolton | 27/03/2022 |
Followed vehicle track from Carn nan Gillean. Well-made cairn on summit. With Gavin. | Dangerous Dave | 02/08/2021 |
From end of public road, back a bit then west onto the relatively dry central reservation of an 8WD track that goes over a bridge near the road then can be followed all the way to the summit. Up and down in just over two hours despite some reascent. | Topographer57 | 15/09/2019 |
From near the road end. Over Carn nan Gillean but on the way back found some more usable ATV tracks which led to a bridge over the Lealt Burn just to the South of the road end. Dry conditions underfoot. | NormanW | 22/04/2019 |
Long but entertaining hike from Cruach na Seilcheig across complex ever changing geography. Some ATV tracks, some deer paths, some freestyle. NW of Loch na Sgorra, NW of Loch a Bhurra (where I fell waist deep into an innocuous looking peaty pool, was momentarily worried), NW of Loch a Gheoidh, then generally SW to the summit picking the higher ground where possible. Nice rocky small summit, great views. Then SE back to the car, following a circuitous ATV track over Carn nan Gillean. | Owen B | 22/08/2018 |
From near the road end. ATV track over bridge, and all the way to summit area. | PGCE | 23/04/2018 |
9th hill of 13 today and psychologically important in completing this circuit from Ardlussa having climbed Maol nan Damh SE top, Maol nan Damh, Dubh Bheinn SE top, Dubh Bheinn, Cnoc Tigh Sealga, Bheinn Bhreac, Druim Airigh an-T Sluic and Ben Garrisdale's NW top to profile around the plateaux and arrive at the cairn and other ribs of parallel rocks that I took about 7 mins checking out. Next Hill: Carn nan Gillean. | Dazingdale | 06/06/2017 |
A mile from the road end by Lealt house and the old bridge. Up through deer fenced area through gates then direct line to the Hump. Onward over rough ground to join the ATV track and easily to summit. ATV track all way back to road end then a mile of quick road back to car. Good circuit if the Hump is wanted with Marilyn. | nordicstar | 30/05/2016 |
Some annoyingly tussocky terrain. Easy on the track. | jenx | 30/05/2016 |
from end of road down to bridge then atv tracks to the top. | robertphillips | 19/09/2015 |
With Mora, from Ardlussa | BLACKHILL | 07/04/2014 |
from camp at Lealt over Ionnsteall. Awesome views | Thearlaichdubh | 26/05/2013 |
Near end of public road, ATV track leads much of the way, although we cut off some of the corners to shorten distance and/or to reduce some unnecessary height gain. Nice hill. | Martin R | 14/06/2012 |
from the bridge , ATV track way up the hill to the top. | tallblond | 11/06/2012 |
Jura ferry and drive to the end of the road beyond Lealt. Long mile plod over wet uneven white tussock, both feet wet as footholds gave way to swamp underneath. Jumped a fast deep stream. Heron. Hen harrier. Wheatear. To visible horizon and to north to avoid peat and swampy hags. To Carn nan Gillean at 12.15. Long drop over more swamp and steady climb up over heathery moss to the top at 13.05. Large neat cairn. | arranc | 02/05/2009 |
