4th hill of 7 on a 20km traverse from Dolbenmaen to Porthmadog. Continuation from Moel Isallt, heading South on non-existent footpaths blocked with no stiles led me to head on tracks and lanes to Gesail Gyfarch taking footpath heading South through open access land then i veered off via Nw area to top. Continuation East to Y Fedw... | Dazingdale | 25/09/2023 |

1 of 4 after spending a couple of days in the camper just off snows on street in Porthmadog. Followed path past small school and hosp then took a turn into woods. I knew the path would be steep after looking at the map! Wasn’t wrong. After clearing woods a more gentle incline all the way to the summit. Great views | The-Z-Man | 04/06/2023 |
Parked in a field at 54169 40750. There is a blue and white parking sign and the farmer said that it was for climbers. I went up the concrete drive then followed signs around the farmhouse over several ladder stiles before heading steeply up towards the cleft in the hill. A lovely hill with great views. | clivevilla | 05/12/2022 |
It's better to use the Penmorfa footpath rather than the Allt Wen footpath. It's very slippy and there's no longer a path if there ever was. Once at the top carry on accross until you find the cairns, then carry on up and you'll see the summit with a piles of rocks at the top. | Skarletk | 21/11/2021 |
Up r.o.w just west of Penmorfa (careful routefinding needed). Then straight up as soon as crags and gorse allow. Climbed pinnacle on way to cairn. Down from eastern col. Lost path in very steep slippery woods just after a stile. Better route up than down. | PeteN | 26/12/2019 |

From SE, parking just above main road jct. Charming intricate old RoW round S side then steeply up to ridge then R to summit cairn with 2m easy rock pinnacle on W summit possibly as high. Back same way altho circuit tempting. | RHW | 11/06/2017 |
Solo walk: Porthmadog - Craig y Gesail - Y Fedw - Foel yr Erw - Porthmadog. The ROW that leads from Penmorfa to the saddle SE of the summit is in evidence on the ground, though it climbs VERY steeply through trees and at one point almost disappears into the bracken. The cairns on the SE ridge are a superb viewpoint. From there it is an easy walk up the SE ridge o a fine summit. | Mark Jackson | 20/08/2016 |
Parked at road junction to the west. A lovely little hill with two possible summits. There's a permissive path from the farm to the open access area. | Herbert Anchovy | 28/05/2015 |
