Logged Descriptions  (logged by 14 users)ByDate of Ascent
Parking at Claerwen dam, I cycled into the hills and parked at Hirnant bridge. I took to the high ground of the southeast ridge of Llethr Hir. Although dry underfoot the vegetation varied between knee and waist high grass! www.exploringmidwales.co.ukRob Rees29/08/2022
Parked at the car park at Pont ar Elan (903 715). Walked the 6km along the ancient road to the s5 Clwadd Du Mawr, then the short distance across to Blaen Rhestr, the first Dewey and by far the best summit of the day. There followed a cross country route to the second Dewey, Pant-llwyd, then back tracking along the minor ridge to the old GR summit. Next south down the gently undulating ridge to Llethr Hir. Then the hardest part of the day, through mainly trackless deep grass across the intervening valley and up the third Dewey of the day, Priddellau. Finally, back to and along the ancient road. Apart from the section between Llethr Hir and Priddellau, the rest of the route was mostly easy going due to the good network of trods and quad bike tracks, and of course the ancient road. Altogether, 24km with 600m ascent, taking 6h 40m.silveracorn_alan03/08/2022
Last hill of a lovely days walking. Very wet underfoot but sunny all day. More or less.Dusty05/12/2021
Parked at Claerwen Reservoir by the dam and took the good track along the north bank. Left this at 842660 and went across mainly pathless terrain to the summit of Llethr Hir. Difficult boggy and tussocky so tried to return to 842660 a lower route which was better to start but then got even worse. Not exactly an easy stroll. Returned along track and left it on path at 883652 for a short way before leaving it and heading straight for the summit of Craig Dyfnant. A little easier but still not easy. Then headed for Craig Fawr keeping a little left to reduce the amount of descent into the valley before striking out for the summit with a shortish final descent back to the track near the car park. 4 1/2 hours.clivevilla03/10/2017

From Claerwen Reservoir car park, tasking track on north side of reservoir. Found ATV track at about SN 842 660 which helped ascent through deep grass. On to Dewey Priddellau.Man of Kernow111/08/2013
