Circular walk around Noss from the jetty. | Winterfloodian | 06/06/2023 |
Anti clockwise around island, top in cloud. Had to disinfect boots before ferry across to Noss Isle. | PeterD | 13/05/2023 |
Lerwick-Bressay ferry, walked across Bressay, Bressay-Noss ferry, then anticlockwise around Noss, including the summit of Noss Head, returning same way (2h45m around Noss, total 6h45m from Lerwick). With JAS. | kdbennett | 24/05/2022 |
Excellent walk anticlockwise around the Island. Lots of seals, birds and interesting coastal features all the way around. Really easy grassy walking 5.5 miles, 2hrs 23 moving time, although a lot longer than that required to make the most of the sealife and birdlife. We were on the island about 4hrs. | JulieB | 25/06/2021 |
Anti-clockwise circuit of the island. Fantastic. Seals, gannets, puffins, guillemots, bonxies, rock doves and many more… Also an otter. Straight to number 1 in my chart of favourite below 1000ft Marilyns. | KeithByTheC | 25/06/2021 |
Great walk around Noss in superb weather. | nicolajane | 27/07/2019 |
Walked round the island on a day of wonderful weather. | Crumblie2 | 19/07/2019 |
Just got over to the island before the red flag was raised. Walked anti-clockwise to summit following path with Seumas. Impressed at Seumas (4 years old) did so well walking all the way. Returned same route as Seumas chose to go that way. Good day out. | assynt_bob | 18/06/2019 |
With Kate. From visitor centre on Noss (11:55) walked anti-clockwise round the island. Cloud over top cleared and weather became glorious. Birds in profusion on cliffs, including very tame puffins. Good views. Back to VC 15:10. Record day for visitors; warden driving 5-passenger worked very hard. | dbb | 07/06/2019 |
ACW circuit of Island - stunning cliffs - many birds- excellent views (with 5 other baggers). | ger | 07/06/2019 |
12.25 with lots of other Marilyn baggers Chris Peart, Reg Willis, David Smith, Geoff & Enid Parr | vegibagger | 07/06/2019 |
A smashing day out in good company. | Chris Peart | 07/06/2019 |
Super walk around the perimeter of Noss in ACW direction. First full view of Noss Head quite stunning. | jonglew | 19/08/2018 |
A jaw-dropping, wonderful circuit of Noss on a glorious day. Gannets, seals, bonxies and all manner of gulls, kittiwakes, shags, and SBSJs. Easy walking all the way. | Gill | 19/08/2018 |
Gorgeous day - beautiful island. Saw about a million puffins, plenty of other birds and a seal. With trimarc2, PJB & GFE. GFE dawdling so ascended twice. | Fionalevey | 04/08/2018 |
A magical walk with so much wildlife and scenary and all done in good weather. Highly recommended.. With FJE, GFR and PJB | trimarc2 | 04/08/2018 |
After Bressay Park Run. Magical hill. Huge amount of bird life. With Fiona, GFE and Trimarc2 | r1 | 04/08/2018 |
Over to Noss on SNH rib ferry. Anti clockwise circuit of the island but disappointing cloud at Eastern end especially at Noss head. | NormanW | 27/06/2018 |
walked coast of Noss with Son Karl, Included Summit.
Great views of birds.
Karl very taken with Puffins and Trip in RIB | Neil Fraser | 05/07/2017 |
Flight to Foula didn't go. Car on ferry to Bressay then over to Noss ferry. Warden came over and I had super walk round island, firstly say an Otter then lots of Puffins and other seabirds. Oh, I also visited the Trig | Coinneach | 19/05/2017 |
A great day out not to be missed. The view of the 180m high cliffs packed with gannets is amazing. Check ferry running on 0800 1077818. We saw Harbour porpoise off Turr Ness | mindlessflogger | 28/08/2016 |
Spectacular cliffs. A top bag. Amazing gannet colony, also puffins, fulmars, shags. sea was blue and clear. Vanessa Trig 10534 | Denise | 27/04/2016 |
Otters, gannets, fulmars and so many more. Leave 4 hours for the round trip of the island. Mild and sunny. | iangalbraith | 24/08/2014 |
Despite the heavy rain, had fantastic few hours walking round dramatic coastline, seeing the amazing seabird colonies on the cliff. Most impressed with the 2 wardens who were friendly and informative. Had welcome cuppas in the visitors bothy while drying off. Just cross Bressay and wave to the wardens who'll come and take you over in their jib, so long as the swell isn't too big. | AndrewFinnimore | 13/08/2014 |
A 2nd visit again with Lesley and also Nick to show him this amazing island - sadly in thick gloom all day. Could not even see across the narrow neck of water at the ferry spot- shouted a request got a muffled reply and out of the fog came the wardens boat. Whilst waiting an eerie 'ghost boat' slowly sailed through the gap in the fog. Repeated the circuit - still amazing despite gloom. | Chris Pearson | 27/07/2014 |
The first visitor to cross on what was the opening day of the 2014 visiting season. Walked anti-clockwise around this fascinating island - well worth planning to spend 4-5 hours. Great cliff scenery and birdlife everywhere. | benalder284 | 01/04/2014 |
With friend. RIB ferry from Bressay. Anticlockwise circuit of island with lots of impressive cliffs and birds. Highest point is near circular section trig point. | pwbellarby | 28/08/2013 |
Round of the island. Enjoyed the puffin show. | fasgadh | 12/07/2013 |
2nd visit. Gannets seemed less noisy than before, but this was a calmer day. | Smudge | 01/06/2013 |
W Jenx from midday ferry to Bressay. Rib to island then birders paradise of a Marilyn. Gannets on Noss Head amazing, guillemots, skuas, terns, puffins. This M has it all. Good views of central Shetland. Brilliant day, 2hr circuit walk over too soon. | nordicstar | 31/05/2013 |
Anti-clockwise around the Island. | summitsup | 31/05/2013 |
My 2nd visit. 3 hours bird and stac watching. The 2 young boatgirls met with general approval :-) | RHW | 28/05/2013 |
Super spot to visit with Tricky Speirs and Peter Milne. | Dugswell2 | 25/05/2013 |
Public ferry to Bressay then SNH ferry to Noss. Walked anticlockwise around the coast. Skuas, fulmars and puffins appeared to be remarkably unconcerned by our presence. | Topographer57 | 25/05/2013 |
Followed coastal path round to summit. | Buteobuteo | 25/05/2013 |
superb | Thearlaichdubh | 08/05/2013 |
Well worth the dingy trip. | bolton | 07/08/2012 |
Lucky chose right day as ferry from Bressay is weather dependent. Resisted temptation to disobey the rules about keeping to cliff edges & clockwise. Lots of birds to look at. Almost stood on oystercatcher eggs. Accompanied by two chaps about to sail on the Swan to St. Kilda. | Martin R | 06/05/2012 |
Tour of the Island after warden ferried across. Didn't realise that it closes 31st! | Eddie | 21/08/2011 |
I'd only just arrived in Shetland a matter of hours prior to landing on Noss, and here I was standing on the top of the island with glorious views south right down as far as Fair Isle. Absolute heaven for an island enthusiast. | Alex C | 19/08/2011 |
W Lesley: one of the most amazing places we have ever been. A vertical city of birds on stunning cliffs. Spectacular, and on a beautiful sunny day with a mini adventure to get there by warden's boat. Added bonus of seal watching / seal watching us - moving along as we did. 2 Orcas had recently been seen swimming through the narrow channel with the mainland. | Chris Pearson | 27/05/2009 |
£4.70 7 minute ferry to Bressay and £1.50 concession in 10 minute dinghy trip to Noss. Left dog with Patricia for quick walk round. Smell and sight of thousands of birds quite dramatic, as was sighting of Vanessa 10534 on cliff edge. | arranc | 12/08/2003 |
Date is first visit. | RHW | 07/08/2002 |
