From the east, straight up broad ridge. With Dangerous Dave. Onwards to Sui Fea. Can't believe it's 24 years since I was last here. And a Marilyn I bagged 4 years before Rob Woodall.Minto07/08/2022
From the parking area to the east. Straight up the steep heathery east ridge. With Minto. Went over to Sui Fea and down via Top of Hellia.Dangerous Dave07/08/2022
With M. From Rackwick via Old Man of Hoy and St. John’s Head. Many Bonxies. Steep descent east. Beautiful sunny day. Risso’s Dolphins seen on the return ferry to Stromness.douglas_easton29/07/2022

Ferry from Stromness to Moaness, minibus to Rackwick (£3 each), path to Old Man which continues all the way around further than the 1:50000 map suggests, to over 300m at St John's Head, across rough ground for a short distance to the Tump of Sui Fee and then a further mile to Cuilags. Descended via the slightly less steep South Easterly ridge to the track then back towards Sansy Loch and the ferry. 9.45 miles, about 4hrs walking time. we got the 10am ferry from Stromness and the 4.30pm back with an hour to spare.JulieB10/09/2020

1 of 3: Ferry from Stromness at 7.30am. We left one rucsac above Sandy Loch. No path. Watched the Scrabster Ferry from the top. With Karen.ChrisR06/08/2020

A 20 minute clamber from the head of Sandy Loch. Not much of a path - just kept ploughing forwards and upwards.summitter24/07/2019
From Rackwick - path to Old Mancurlebd08/07/2019
From parking area south of round hill, low cloud had lifted and clear day. Up to Sandy Loch and then straight up, plenty of Bonxies circling but faint path up seemed to avoid their attention. Great views from the top. Back down and up Ward HillPeterD28/06/2019

From Sandy Loch car park via NE ridge.Winterfloodian03/06/2019
Winter ferry times require a no-nonsense approach to Hoy Marilyns, so parked below Round Hill, and scooted up Cuileags on steep, easy ground with a vague path to good views, then down to Sandy Loch and up spongy ground along Water Glen, improving towards the top of Ward Hill. WH has got a very nice summit with good views, but the lower ground is fairly manky.Gill22/02/2019
Good parking area SE of Round Hill. From the dam took a direct line to hill summit. Steep but good ground. Descended similar route before veering off to walk up Water Glen for Ward Hill.jonglew22/02/2019
With Bryher. Circular via Rackwick and Old Man. So windy we could hardly walk down the steep side back to the Hoy Centre.jenx29/07/2018

Up good path in glen from Rackwick and easy enough ascent from just below bealach. Down steep slopes to waterworks and onto Heritage Centre for welcome cuppa tea and biscuits.AndrewFinnimore10/06/2017

From Rackwick - path to Old Man - coast to St. John's Head - Sui Fea - Cuilags - ferry.Chris Peart28/06/2016
After the Knap of Trowieglen dropped down to the beach at Randwick. Took the Glen path and from the high-point direct up Cuilags past od airplane wreckage. Reversed route to then climb Ward Hill via Water Glen. Dropped steeply down Quoyawa avoiding the crags and a walk back to ferry jetty with a nice cuppa tea on the way at the cafenordicstar11/06/2016
Good circular walk from ferry. Took about 7 hours with some good stops. Enjoyed Rackwick bay.jenx11/06/2016

Really enjoyable - Hoy is so different from the other islands. Early morning bus from Lerwick to Stromness for first ferry to Hoy. Moaness Ferry pier - Sandy Loch- Summit - Rackwick where I met the family for walk to the Old Man. Very blustery early on. RSPB warden and nesting sea eagles at Dwarfie Hamars on the way back to Lyness.benalder28404/04/2016
