From road to south | vegibagger | 19/08/2022 |
A very North Pennines type of hill. Came up from Corston over Kame of Corrigall. Difficult parking, frisky cattle, electrified fences. Track up onto heathery peat pog, then summit peat hag higher than trig. Solo. | Dangerous Dave | 30/07/2022 |
Fine and dandy on access track to transmitter. From south. Then….go towards the far right hand side of fenced area….there is a v faint - feint ‘path’. Even with this, there are quite a lotof boggy sections ….
Great views. | VerySlowPlodder | 30/05/2022 |
From Greamshall, easy track to mast, than easy trails to the top. The stick is still in upright position. Somebody mentioned it below | tallblond | 30/04/2022 |
Round of Mid Tooin, Kame of Corrigall and Hammars Hill from Graemeshall. Only recommended if you like trudging through tussocky, peat boggy heather. | Thearlaichdubh | 26/09/2021 |
From east, drove about 500m from A966 towards Graemsgall, cycled most of the way up to mast then straight line to summit. Some soft and uneven ground but also found faint but good animal tracks. | Topographer57 | 18/08/2021 |
With KeithbytheC as stated not a recommended route up, very soft under foot which made it hard going. However route back across to the mast then down the track to the main road then back to the church where there was plenty parking quite pleasant. | JulieB | 06/09/2020 |
up track from east towards Queenamidda. Then struggled up deep heather and other vegetation through nature reserve. Not a recommended route. | KeithByTheC | 06/09/2020 |
2 of 2: After Rousay we drove to Graemshall and parked at the junction above the houses.Track to the mast, then rough ground to the top. We came across a camera and poison feeder on a peat mound on our way back to the mast! With Karen. | ChrisR | 08/08/2020 |
Following Rousay cairns/Marilyn, afternoon walk up the mast track to mast then over moorland (looks can be deceiving deep pools easily circumvented) and return for bus back to Kirkwall. Clearing to sunshine. | N.Morters | 23/08/2019 |
From Graemshall to mast and summit | curlebd | 09/07/2019 |
Parked above houses at Graemshall, then followed track to mast. Ground rough but mostly dry to trig and then onto mound for HP. Bonxies nearby to NW of trig, but not a problem. | PeterD | 25/06/2019 |
From Graemshall to mast by bike, then on foot to summit. | Winterfloodian | 05/06/2019 |
Jon Glew got his 4WD up to a parking area just before the mast on Fibla Fiold, but this would not be possible in the family car. The walk to the summit is almost flat from there across reasonably firm ground except for the first few yards from the mast. I have re-erected the fence post marking the summit hag, but it will probably fall over again. | Gill | 24/02/2019 |
Drove up to Fibla Fiold mast site. 1km walk over rough and soggy ground from there. 4x4 needed for the drive up, some steep, rocky sections, and good ground clearance essential. | jonglew | 24/02/2019 |
Parked above houses at Graemshall. Mast path then fairly easy going over moorland to trig and high point. | NormanW | 17/06/2018 |
From the mast followed the fence line which was a life saver given how thick the mist was. Stick with the fence and it leads you straight up and round to the Trig point and summit. | elizyanne | 26/05/2018 |
Up track to mast (not driveable). Ground to summit not nearly as bad as described in some logs, just a bit boggy with some nasty spongy moss but I've known far worse! Did it in thick mist so well-chuffed to have found trig pt using SW bearing. | AndrewFinnimore | 09/06/2017 |
Track to mast then bogtrot. | Chris Peart | 23/06/2016 |
M, O. Straightforward ascent up track and across wet moorland to top. 1 hr 25. | Martin66 | 18/03/2016 |
Parked above houses. Good track then bog trot to summit which was easily found. With Val. 3rd Marilyn of the day. | mike.hoult | 07/06/2015 |
With Mike | Val Deisler | 07/06/2015 |
Used track up to masts then across rough ground to summit. | Campbell Singer | 29/03/2015 |
That required effort over tough terrain once the track had run out. Exhausting. | Play2End | 20/08/2014 |
4 TuMP walk back to Stromness after getting dropped off at the ferry slip at Tingwall. | Alex C | 03/06/2014 |
P above houses at track jnct. Track to Fibla Fiold then across bog to top. | chrisbien | 31/05/2014 |
Cloudy but clear on top. | bolton | 04/08/2013 |
W Jenx en route to Shetlands. Quick dash up. More later! | nordicstar | 26/05/2013 |
Used track initially then over rough moorland to find mound towering over trig point in the mist and then onto neighbouring Tump. | Dugswell2 | 04/06/2012 |
Parked near Graemshall. Track gets you easily to the mast, then it is rough going (and coming back!). Another suspicious looking mound higher than the trig. Atrocious weather. | Martin R | 13/05/2012 |
Cycle-able up to mast the a bit of bog. | Eddie | 17/08/2011 |
Revisit. Boggy pooly summit. Feeling lazy I tried my luck driving the bumpy track, but still a 900m bog trot. | RHW | 29/05/2010 |
Sunny, windy, dry, good views. | iangalbraith | 25/08/2008 |
Walk from Graemshall to NE, long track to mast. Rough going to a trig, but 20m away is huge peat hag which is 3m higher. Dire weather - wind, snow and hail. | Aye Jimmy | 23/03/2008 |
Parked on the A966 and walked up the mast access track. It was then a bog hop to the trig. | garyhoney | 20/06/2005 |
Solo | HFB | 11/08/2004 |
Difficult drive up in hired car followed by difficult trudge to HP | lordtonult | 03/12/2003 |
Date is first visit. Notes from later...see log on TrigpointingUK.com. | RHW | 29/07/2002 |
From end of tarred road, easy walk up to masts and over uneven swampy moor to trig 10593 at 11.15. | arranc | 02/06/2002 |
