Last but by no means least. Summit of the island and my final Orkney Marilyn. In deteriorating weather. Still dry but visibility getting poorer and now strong wind | vegibagger | 03/09/2022 |
Parked at East Kirbest. Coastal path with Bryer & Minto to the north of Skea Hill. They walked back to the car while I came up here. Stile over bw fence then simple walk to the summit (except for the bonxies)! Came down over Skea Hill (80m). | Dangerous Dave | 31/07/2022 |
From Kirbost farm area, where there us room for 3 cars parked neatly. Follow core path, northwards, u til past first minor bump. Follow fence line to F Hill, this should avoid Bonxies if in breeding season. Many wild flowers in bloom. A bit of fence negotiations on way down. Orcadian farmers really *love* barbed wire …… | VerySlowPlodder | 03/06/2022 |
Afternoon boat from Kirkwall and a quick ascent from the south at East Kirbest. 2 barbed wire fences to cross that could easily cause damage to oneself. shower moved in on the descent after a very dry spell. Solo. | bolton | 03/05/2022 |
From the south so Jon could have a lovely view. A view barbed wires to deal with. Big square was a good focal point to get up steep hill. Easy to find the top after. | tallblond | 02/05/2022 |

On a day of rolling fog, I unfortunately got the timing wrong and failed to get a view. Brilliant walks around various other parts of the island | SpudGunn | 25/08/2021 |
Cycled from Rapness then easily ascended from the east. Between 14:25 and 17:55. | Topographer57 | 19/08/2021 |

1 of 2: Drove from the ferry to East Kirbest CP. Same as the pigguy. Good route. With Karen. | ChrisR | 07/08/2020 |
Day ferry and bus to Pierowall. Round via Noltland castle then up via ridge to summit. Easy going mostly occasional cattle fields. Decent east to quarry then roa to pock up return ferry | N.Morters | 25/08/2019 |

A splendid walk. Straight up from East Kirbest, with an openable Orkney gate, to an open gateway above, then a step over a BWF above the next field and onto the open hill. A bit boggy in places in the fields, then easy going on grass between little craglets to the top. Good views. Down the fence line to the coast path. Resisting any urge to deviate from the fence leads to a wonderful view over the cliffs. Walked back around the coast, not really on the path, with great sea views all the way. Stunning. | Gill | 26/02/2019 |
From East Kirbest, small parking area for 2-3 cars. Took a direct line up to hill top. Followed fence line due west for a short cliff walk before veering off and returning over Skea Hill. | jonglew | 26/02/2019 |
Waymarked route from East. Farm lane, then rough grass between barbed wire fences. Friendly chat with farmer about escaped calf | PeteN | 22/08/2018 |

Ferry, then bus to foot of hill. Walked back to Rapness via Langskaill Hill and the trig point above the ferry terminal. | NormanW | 15/06/2018 |
Quick route up from B9067 using signposted path which begins a few hundred yards to the north of junction by the old Westside School. 25 minutes to the summit. Plenty of bonxies to the south and west of the top, but no attacks. | the pigguy | 13/06/2018 |

My local hill. On this occasion I parked at Kirbest and followed cliff path to stile due west of summit. This avoids nesting skuas on Skea Hill. The fence takes you straight to the top for fantastic views over Orkney. I returned same way although you can drop straight down the other side to Midbea and take a fairly long, but pleasant, road walk back to Kir best. | the pigguy | 04/07/2017 |
Bus drops you at Pierowall and you get c 7hrs before bus takes you back to Kirkwall ferry. Did a clockwise walk taking in Fitty Hill (path from 443450) and up the west side. Dramatic coastal scenery (arches, stacks, waterfalls) and nesting seabirds. Easy to summit but thereafter numerous barbed wire fences to negotiate and a marked lack of gates/stiles. | AndrewFinnimore | 11/06/2017 |

Bus driver dropped me at the track end HY442450, from where there is a waymarked path to the summit. I continued W to the coast path and up coast to Noup Head, roads led back to Pierowall for the evening bus. | Chris Peart | 30/06/2016 |
Did a big walk round the north west of the island. 3 tumps, lighthouse, trig, cliff path, then straight up the hill. Plenty of interesting birdlife and numerou barbed wire plus electric fences on the way. | jenx | 12/06/2016 |
Ferry then bus to Pierohall. Walked out to the Noup via Tumps then coastal walk to the Noup. Western coastal path to close to summit. Lots of barbed wire fences to cross so get in practice. Direct down to track by turbines and back to bus stop. | nordicstar | 12/06/2016 |

Steep grassy climb. Just avoided blizzard . | Campbell Singer | 31/03/2015 |
Straight up from farm buildings where there is ample parking Fantastic views on a beautiful clear day until the blizzard swept in as we reached the car. Very windy, even by Orkney standards. | Barbara Singer | 31/03/2015 |
