I parked at the phone box at the little pull in to the southwest. Steep run up the lane to Ferm Newydd. I carried on for a bit and then headed South East up to Twyn y Gaer. Visited cairn and mound nearby. It was very windy. Decided to run north along the ridge and ended up going all the way to Chwarel y Fan. It was extremely windy on this hill at points it was difficult to stand let alone run. Returned the same way then split off to Upper House and down to small church and the car. Time taken 2 hours 30 minutes for 12.74 miles and 1989 feet of ascent. No other Walker but did see 2 motorcycles. | isabelle | 19/11/2023 |

Went up Bryn Awr first of all then across the valley to this one in search of a geocache. Nice top and smashing views. | Father Ted | 19/06/2022 |

Cairn on ancient earthworks in clear sunny but cold weather. From Road to north; path cut through bracken. There is parking at the road end and in a layby half way up the road which we did not realise and paid £2 to park at the mapped 'Walkers'' carpark owned by Queen's Head pub. Onto Graig. | Denise | 25/11/2021 |
A great little hill with easy access on excellent path and with fine views. Hill fort, twin summit mounds of very similar height. | RichardM | 25/11/2021 |
Having walked the Bryn Arw ridge we crossed the Cwm Road and climbed up via Upper Gaer Farm to the hillfort. Descended via ancient tracks to The Pant and the nature reserve. | Rob Rees | 03/04/2021 |

Parked at the Queens Head Inn and completed a 5.5km walk to the summit & back. Enjoyable outing with my family :-) | Gerry the Ranger | 30/08/2020 |
Followed lane up from E, took path L from gate, loops round to top. Parking available near top of road but limited. Larger car park partway up better option | amarillo-oro-como | 22/03/2020 |
Took the lane from the Queens Head to east of hill. Drove up as far as sensible on ice and snow. Parked at entrance to wide forestry track. Walked up lane and into field prematurely before open access land. Delightful summit. Super snowy views on a sunny afternoon. | Campbell Singer | 02/02/2019 |

Parked outside Cwmyoy village hall and walked up through Llanthony Wood. Noticed that it would have been possible to park on the track to the north of Gaer Farm. | Wheelsy | 18/02/2017 |

Nice grassy hill fort. The day after South Wales traverse with a very sore foot. From NE: road then pasture | RHW | 29/03/2009 |
Had a hillbagging day after the big mountains were in cloud, tied up lose ends in our well walked Beacons: Twyn Y Gaer (Gaer), Crug Mawr, Tor-Y-Foel and Ysgyryd Fawr (Skirrid). Not all in one walk though! | DanTrig | 21/02/2009 |
