Parked at road end and followed small path along the coast then up grassy slabby ridge. Blustery showers so didn’t continue over other hills.govanah14/09/2023
From Mealasta road head, along the coast and then an enjoyable romp up the west ridge slabs. Back same way.Chris Peart04/06/2023
Parking end of the Mealasta road. Laibheal a Tuath and Deas then Naideabhal a-Migh first then down to here on a fairly direct scrambley route. On to Steinsbhal (sub-tump), Mocleitean, Aird Mhor Mill Tamna, Aonaig Mhor Tamna Siar, returning as close to the coast as possible for an 18k round.jonglew07/05/2023
As others, parked at road end. Nice walk along the coast then up rock slabs to the summit. Came back same way and missed the worst of the afternoon rain. Solo.Dangerous Dave17/09/2022
From parking at road end, short walk along the coast then up the slabs to a fine summit. Mostly sunny and fine views and out to St Kilda and Flannan isles.N.Morters15/09/2022
A three Marilyn day from Breinis. First the climb, over thankfully dry bog, to Mealaisbhal. The boulder summit added a spot of fun to an otherwise steep slog. On to Cracabhal, taking the SW flank as route of least resistance. Laibheal a Tuath and Laibheal a' Deas also called for skill to avoid the most difficult terrain. Luckily it was a gloriously sunny and windless day so route finding was easier than would normally be the case. By the time we got to the top of Naideabhal a-Muigh legs were becoming weary, but we pushed on to Griomabhal to bag that all important third Marilyn. We returned back to the camper by heading west over slab and heather towards the sea, veering NW to the road head and a well earned refreshing dip once lower ground was attained. 6.30 hours total.summitter10/09/2022
From road end. Good hill- nice slabs.ger16/09/2021
Limited parking at road end. Gradually up to lochan using good deer track by burn then steeply up to summit ridge. Back down west ridge. Bit hazy so couldn't see St Kilda. Top Marilyn best kept for a clear day.AndrewFinnimore20/09/2019
As per Bolton. An excellent walk up an impressive little hill. Really enjoyed it.NormanW14/05/2019
Coast path from road end, Griomabhal, Naideabhal a Muidhe, Laibheal a Deas, down through the lochans. Would have been easier to carry on to Laibheal a Tuath and down the west ridge. Fabulous, amazing slabby hills.PeteN04/01/2019
Parked at the end of the road south of Mealasta. A great coastal walk before heading up the rock slabs making the ascent very easy. 3 hour return in excellent conditions with CM.bolton18/07/2018
From end of minor road. Along coast & up thr W ridge. Easy going. With PM.CJM18/07/2018
From NB032313. Left track at approx NB035279. Ascended gully between slabs (steep but no difficulties) to gain Mula Mac Sgiathain. Then onwards to Mealaisbhal continuing along ridge to Cracabhal, Laibheal a' Tuath, Laibheal a' Deas, Naideabhal a' Muigh & Griomabhal. Descended to track alongside Allt Ruadh. Walked up track to Bealach at approx NB035244, then ascended onto Teinneasabhal before continuing onto Tathabhal. Descended south to loch in Bealach (retracing steps) and then west to meet track again. Returned to starting point along track. Save these Marilyns for good weather - they are fantastic. I would recommend traversing the ridge on the east side of the Glen(s) also (unlike me) to include Tamnasbhal and Tarain. Note that the terrain was significantly steeper than I had expected having studied the map previously.raffemeister19/04/2017
from the road end S of Mealista, follow tracks round to the burn, cross it high up and on to another fantastic Lewis hill. Howling gale added to the fun.Thearlaichdubh22/09/2016
The weather was gruesome in Harris, so I drove round to Uig to find blue skies and sunshine. The walk along the coast to Griomabhal is easy and dry, and then there's a lovely tongue of pale grey slabs to stroll up onto the summit ridge. Stunning views from the top, and an easy descent, before more slabs to Naidheabhal a'Muigh. Laibheal a'Dheas is possibly the rockiest hill I've ever seen, and, like all these hills, remarkable for an almost complete absence of scree and loose rock. Despite appearances, you can stroll up the beautiful pale grey slabs with hands in your pockets, such easy and pleasant walking. A stroll along the ridge, and an easy descent from Laibheal a'Tuath. Given the long drive back, I am leaving Cracabhal for another day, and in any case this will ensure a return trip to this beautiful place. The last bit to the road is standard issue Lewis bogs, hags and tussocks, but you can't have it all ways, folks...Gill31/03/2016
With Jenx from down below Mealasta, in wet and increasing wet weather.nordicstar20/09/2015
From Mealista, nice coastal walk to easy west ridge.Topographer5714/09/2015
Parked above the beach then along the coast before climbing Griomabhal, Naideabhal a-Muigh, Laibheal a'Deas,Laibheal a'Tuath, Cracabhal and then met Anne and Eric lunching on Mealaisbhal on a dry grey day but with lovely views.Dugswell221/09/2014

From the end of the road. On a windless day, the sound of the Atlantic pervaded right to the top. Great view of Mealista island from the lower reaches.dandaran19/10/2013
Aimed high from the coast road end to avoid the 'ravine'. Nice hill with lots of glaciated rock left over from when 'as high as the Himalayas' according to the Mealasta information board further down the road.Martin R01/10/2013
Fantastic/ magical ridge walk. Solo ascent. From north end of Brenish to Mealisval and along ridge to Griomaval. Initially frosty but sun never really warmed up the ridge. High cloud so great views of Flannan Isles and St Kilda the whole way. Views south to the North Harris hills and Southern Isles. 6 hours in all.alexmaclennan30/03/2013
Hazy sun then high cloud, cool wind, mild, good views.iangalbraith17/10/2012

To road's end beyond Uig. Parallel to shore slightly uphill over 3 gullies on deer grass and rough moor to final ridge with cairn and lochan to the right. Mist at 1,300' On compass into mist, using GPS to check progress. Small green gulley with moss and grass underfoot. A further 200m to the top at 12.45. Column 10081 surrounded by small wind break. No view - mist.arranc28/06/2010

Revisit. Fine rock and grass summit. Took fairly direct line up from Glen Tealasdale, a bit scary in damp conditions but in good vis there are good ways through the crags as I recall from last time. Scenic route back along the coast to Mealista - parking at roadhead.RHW11/04/2009
From the end of the road at Mealasta, by cliff tops then up Gleann Tealasdal.Eddie20/07/2008
From NA993234. A surprsingly good top with excellent views.summitsup07/06/2008
Put ashore from MV Cuma at Kinloch Reasort and eventually picked up again at Mealasta with fellow passenger Kate on return from St Kilda.chalky195306/06/2002
Used airmiles to fly from Glasgow to Stornoway with our bikes and then to cycle down the islands to fly back from the beach runway on Barra. Unfortunately our bikes failed to arrive on the plane with us so hired a small red van for 3 days (at airlines expense)and made most of our free transport to drive round to this beautiful road extremity for a 3 Marilyn circuit with Lesley. Griomaval- Tahaval and back over Cracaval.Chris Pearson20/05/2001
Date is first visit. Notes from later...superb slabby hill, steep descent from N via grassy gully. Mealista 999244, Griom, Craca, Teinn, Taha, Mealisval RHW27/09/2000
