| A three Marilyn day from Breinis. First the climb, over thankfully dry bog, to Mealaisbhal. The boulder summit added a spot of fun to an otherwise steep slog. On to Cracabhal, taking the SW flank as route of least resistance. Laibheal a Tuath and Laibheal a' Deas also called for skill to avoid the most difficult terrain. Luckily it was a gloriously sunny and windless day so route finding was easier than would normally be the case. By the time we got to the top of Naideabhal a-Muigh legs were becoming weary, but we pushed on to Griomabhal to bag that all important third Marilyn. We returned back to the camper by heading west over slab and heather towards the sea, veering NW to the road head and a well earned refreshing dip once lower ground was attained. 6.30 hours total. | summitter | 10/09/2022 |

| From NB032313. Left track at approx NB035279. Ascended gully between slabs (steep but no difficulties) to gain Mula Mac Sgiathain. Then onwards to Mealaisbhal continuing along ridge to Cracabhal, Laibheal a' Tuath, Laibheal a' Deas, Naideabhal a' Muigh & Griomabhal. Descended to track alongside Allt Ruadh. Walked up track to Bealach at approx NB035244, then ascended onto Teinneasabhal before continuing onto Tathabhal. Descended south to loch in Bealach (retracing steps) and then west to meet track again. Returned to starting point along track. Save these Marilyns for good weather - they are fantastic. I would recommend traversing the ridge on the east side of the Glen(s) also (unlike me) to include Tamnasbhal and Tarain. | The weather was gruesome in Harris, so I drove round to Uig to find blue skies and sunshine. The walk along the coast to Griomabhal is easy and dry, and then there's a lovely tongue of pale grey slabs to stroll up onto the summit ridge. Stunning views from the top, and an easy descent, before more slabs to Naidheabhal a'Muigh. Laibheal a'Dheas is possibly the rockiest hill I've ever seen, and, like all these hills, remarkable for an almost complete absence of scree and loose rock. Despite appearances, you can stroll up the beautiful pale grey slabs with hands in your pockets, such easy and pleasant walking. A stroll along the ridge, and an easy descent from Laibheal a'Tuath. Given the long drive back, I am leaving Cracabhal for another day, and in any case this will ensure a return trip to this beautiful place. | Fantastic/ magical ridge walk. Solo ascent. From north end of Brenish to Mealisval and along ridge to Griomaval. Initially frosty but sun never really warmed up the ridge. | Used airmiles to fly from Glasgow to Stornoway with our bikes and then to cycle down the islands to fly back from the beach runway on Barra. Unfortunately our bikes failed to arrive on the plane with us so hired a small red van for 3 days (at airlines expense)and made most of our free transport to drive round to this beautiful road extremity for a 3 Marilyn circuit with Lesley.
