From layby at fort entrance. Area covered with nettles/brambles/bracken/umbelifers with some narrow paths - pretty hard to tell where the highest natural ground is. | Mark Jackson | 24/06/2023 |
While completing a local walk, the land belongs to the national trust so no problems of access. In late summer the walls of the hill fort were covered in thick bracken so best avoid at this time of the year. Covered all the usual high points although the embankment are higher these are obviously man made altogether I did fight through the bracken to cover all the points. | hodder | 19/08/2022 |
Parked to east, NT hill fort. Went up two highest parts of hill fort and presumed natural HP. | PeterD | 20/03/2022 |
From the road to the east. Pretty with bluebells. I went to the hp given and the hp on the ramparts which is a bit brambly. | clivevilla | 30/04/2021 |
Parked in lay-by at entrance. Safety insurance ascent just in case Coed y Bwnydd is determined to be the HuMP rather than Trostrey Hill just visited. Walked up and along the two concentric ramparts to the north which are definitely the highest point though man made, some 3000 years ago. Also walked round all round the central area including mound in the middle as well to cover highest natural ground. Well and truly bagged. | mntainman | 18/04/2021 |
Used the muddiest road ever encountered from the north but the hillfort site (NT) is excellent. Full of birdsong this morning. | Rob Rees | 03/02/2020 |
Layby for 3 cars at entrance to the hill fort. Open woodland, highest point on ramparts NE side. | jonglew | 20/12/2019 |
Poor weather resorted in change of plan and reverted to some easy Tumps. Mist and driving rain. | Campbell Singer | 26/01/2019 |
Narrow muddy empty lanes to the high point. Wet and windy. | Barbara Singer | 26/01/2019 |
As per Swindon Bagger | arranc | 05/11/2016 |
Field edge NE of road bend: spot height at bend to W obviously lower. Hillfort (NT, layby) highest earthwork possibly higher; hillfort natural hp possibly as high. | RHW | 05/12/2015 |
Drove to top on very narrow road. | Swindon Bagger | 06/11/2015 |
Visited Coed-Y-Bwnydd Iron Age Hill Fort high points with Chris Peart and Colin Crawford. Then had a look at the farm building and high point in field near gate and bend in road. | Dugswell2 | 04/07/2015 |

Bank by road at SO 36844 06947. Ground in Coed-Y-Bwnydd Iron Age Hill Fort is possibly higher than natural summit. | Ramblingpaul | 05/04/2015 |
