As others. RoW appears to go though garden and signs warning of dogs, CCTV etc are not friendly but no dogs seen. Noone to ask. Diverted south around garden into horse field and ascended rough grass to quarry rim via field corner. Last section has brambles trees and bw fence but is short. Deep and operational quarry; hard to know if rim is natural and exact location of natural HP, but did our best. Rim seems quite level.Denise 06/12/2021
From the W via Balas Farm. Plenty of warning notices but no indication of the mapped path. Pass house via field with horses on its S side then over BWF to grassy hillside and up to the quarry rim embankment in scruffy band of woodland. Not wishing to push our luck through the farm again and wanting to head E anyway we descend NE/E through woodland which proves a little awkward in places.RichardM06/12/2021
A bit of a GOML. Lay in mini aspired as I was walking towards farm, asked, 'Can I help you' the standard plus way of saying, 'What the f*** are you doing here. Told her going to to of the hill on ROW. She said there's no footpath there any more. Etc etc asked what I should do like go through the farmyard. She said,' well you're not going through the house! ' Then warned me there was a bull in the top field.' Told her I wasn't scared of bulls. ' Well, good luck' said somewhat reluctantly.vegibagger25/07/2019
Parked at school. Passed house & stables with CCTV signs. Spoke to house owner who said it was OK. Hard won summit, on account of brambles & other obstacles.ngthack29/09/2018
From school, up track to farm, through farmyard where I was directed the best way to the top, although there was a quizzical look as to why I wanted to visit the HP by the quarry rim.PeterD25/02/2018
Parked opposite school on a Saturday. Up lane to Balas Farm and then 4 bwf s, brambles, nettles and thistles. Jemma asked why and I didn't have a ready answer on this occasion although the quarry view was impressive!Campbell Singer24/06/2017
Despite warnings about bwf, I was ill prepared with 3/4. length trousers. The hill was threatening enough with all sorts of jaggy plants plus threatening dog signs at the farm. Nevertheless, we were intrepid and reached the quarry lip.Jemma Singer24/06/2017
From school to NW, track to Balas Farm then through gate and under several barbed wire fences to bramble-covered summit at quarry edge.Tony J01/05/2017
Up track to Balas Farm then went south of house over two gates and under barb wire fence. Then up to quarry edge and over two fences to bag high point with Iain Brown.Dugswell215/03/2017
Parked at start of track to Balas Farm. Asked stablehands where the FP was, they didn't know one went through there, but happy for me to go through the farm. Explored a couple of places on quarry edge. The GR given here seems to be the highest point.jonglew21/12/2016
No sign of any path through Balas Farm but I guess it goes through the garden. Instead I went south over the gate near end of drive then east into field with long grass. I too explored the high ground on the rim to the NE before going to rim at stated cords.Father Ted13/11/2016
From nw as others, no sign of path beyond Baras farmhouse. Stated hp is at W cnr of quarry rim, first visited a point further ne, rim essentially level.RHW15/10/2016
Parked opposite school to NW, walked south down roas before turning right up track past house (over two fences to the right), up pasture then over a fence into a narrow band of woodland. The last few yards are quite brambly.clivevilla10/08/2016
From NE.Dusty09/04/2016
Need to climb fence then through undergrowth and claim another fence to reach the quarry edge.Adrian24/10/2015
Parked outside Mary Immaculate school and walked on public footpath through Balas Farm. Summit is by fence at edge of quarry.Ramblingpaul25/05/2015
